yes, but if you look at the toms, they look like Ludwig lugs. the floor tom leg brackets look like Ludwigs...and the tom facing him to the very right of the picture looks like the blue/olive Ludwig badge.
i can guarantee you they're Ludwigs (or maybe the toms are).

Hello,
My name is Michael Whitlow and I'm from Atlanta Georgia. I was in the same band, 285, for 16 years. We were the house band at Six Flags over Georgia in 1982 and 1984. After that we were "rock and roll prostitutes" for 13 years playing clubs while traveling around the United States (mainly the Southeast). One of our best gigs was Club LaVela in Panama City Beach (one of the homes to spring break). Great stories and even better times.
I don't miss the road too much, but I sure do miss playing every night. I'm currently a third year medical student, so I just play drums as a hobby now. At least I actually get to practice versus trying new licks in front of a few hundred people every night. I have learned more in the last year than I would have in a few years on the road (especially with Drummerwold).
If Drummerworld was around when I was in high school, I might have never graduated.

And one last picture that I liked, I'm probably singing along there (without a mic - for a good reason):

I'm a little more frightened of the knife on the table to her left.
I was at a "Fall" (really Halloween, but this was church) party at my church and we had a pumpkin carving competition. It was fun...girls vs. guys...girls won of course!

Hey gusty! That`s a very cool effect! Is it difficult to do that? How did you do that exactly?
Karl
Thanks man. This is exactly how I did it:
Open image
Copy background layer
Desaturate background copy
Add layer mask to copy
Outline the area in which you want to have in colour with the magnetic lasso tool
Clean up any mistakes you made in the quickmask by hitting 'q'
Exit quickmask once you're done by once again hitting 'q'
Fill in the area with the paint bucket tool, and make sure the colour is black
Deselect by holding down ctrl+d
All done!
If you don't have photoshop then I'd be glad to do a few pics. If you do have photoshop and can't understand those instructions (I wouldn't blame you) then go to this colour isolating video tutorial (http://digitalphenom.deviantart.com/gallery/#Photoshop-Video-Tuts).

Just saw this. Yeah I have been here an awfully long time, possibly one of the longest members (even with the breaks) given that I was here before this forum was created, on the other, older forum that was eventually deleted. That's going back another year or so, back to mid-2004, so I have been here quite a long time. And made quite a lot of posts. All told around 7,000 I think.
Sad. Very sad.

I never thought of that.
At my last job, the river water pumphouse had a 46" diameter line that was covered over with a plastic cap. (built with plant expansion in mind). When I would go down to do my checks, I would take two 18" aluminum pipe wrenches and go all Taiko on that thing. It had a great boom to it.

Good drum shops in the area? None come to mind - I usually grab whatever I can when I'm somewhere else. The closest for heads that I can think of is Sharon Music in Maidstone and they typically only sell Evans heads. Catford seems like your only option mate.

Good drum shops in the area? None come to mind - I usually grab whatever I can when I'm somewhere else. The closest for heads that I can think of is Sharon Music in Maidstone and they typically only sell Evans heads. Catford seems like your only option mate.
I phoned Elephant Music in Gravesend the other week. They didn't have a single solitary 20" kick head in stock. The guy told me that 22" is the norm! Guess I should have got a 22" kick instead!
God forbid I ever buy a 12" or 13" snare!!

Indeed we actually just have one real brass instrument: Trumpet.
The rest are woodwinds (clarinets, sax, flutes etc.).
Figuratively we consider ourselves as a brass band...like a "wind ensemble". :-)

Also, Karl, very neat instrumentation for a jazz band. You have no bass guitar? Just wind instruments? I like unusual instrumentation and it would be neat to hear such a band.
I used to listen to a sax group called Migraine that had no bass or drums - just four different size saxes and it was great.

It's actually just a white background I painted on there. It's a Radiohead logo, the cover of Amnesiac to be precise it's called the Minotaur. I want it as a tattoo something bad. Thanks. I'm not particularly good with art work, but the guitar turned out pretty well.

We are not a Jazz band at all. We cover all the songs we like and all the tunes which are playable. For example classics like "One moment in time", "Thank you for the music" or "King of the road" which would be swing.
Instead of a bass guitar player our leader plays a bariton saxophon. So we try to manage everything just with wind instruments...
Thanks!
