Hi,

I'm Verena, 28 years old and I come from a beautiful and small town in germany called trier. (by the way the oldest city of germany!)
I've been playing drums since almost 7 years. I've started in a big band for 5 years.
After I'd gather my first experience in a cover-rockband for 4 months (whitesnake, gary moore, bryan adams, ufo, free, ...). But unfortunately still without gigs.
Then I was searching for new musicians to found a new band for a long time.
Now, since 2 months we're are almost completely. We're playing cover like stone temple pilots, better than ezra, jack johnson, pearl jam, guano apes, green day and some funky and groovy pieces. But in the future we wanted to write our own songs.
I play pearl drums, sabian, zildjian, istanbul cymbals and dw and last but not least
my ibook (i love it) to record my first drumsolo with garageband.
I like rock, pop and alternative but mostly funky and groovy music like motown, soul
and swing.

Beer marketing has to be one of the funniest things on the planet. Take Stella, for example - here in NZ we still get all the "upscale Belgian beer"-type adverts proclaiming it as this wonderful, exotic thing, along with prices reflecting this... when it's brewed locally in the same place as Lion Red, the local brand of had-a-Holden,-a-mullet-and-Metallica-T-shirt-since-the-80s-and-still-thinks-they're-hip enjoyment.

Here are a couple pics from a gig we played last night. It was a weekend-long birthday party at a huge log cabin up in the mountains. We played out on the deck, and it was great fun! I also included a couple pics of the rest of the band.
I believe u use the same sticks as me (Rush Neil Pert 30th anniversary?)

Beer marketing has to be one of the funniest things on the planet. Take Stella, for example - here in NZ we still get all the "upscale Belgian beer"-type adverts proclaiming it as this wonderful, exotic thing, along with prices reflecting this... when it's brewed locally in the same place as Lion Red, the local brand of had-a-Holden,-a-mullet-and-Metallica-T-shirt-since-the-80s-and-still-thinks-they're-hip enjoyment.

'tis probably the same stuff in disguise...

I watched a great programme on advertising censorship a few years ago. The things they can and can't say about beer are quite hilarious. They can't, for instance, sell you beer on the premise of it making you attractive to the opposite sex. Nor can you imply drinking in rounds (for instance 'when it's my round, I choose Shepard Neame!' would be banned). Some of these rules are very sensible. Some of the old beer commercials from back in the day were just hilarious and garish.

The worst offender though, are the old smoking commercials. 'Smoking soothes the throat and relaxes the mind'. Just hilarious stuff.

Yep. I buy 'em by the case when I take my twice-yearly trip to Guitar Center. I have to say, however, that I've been using 747's since way before they were "signature" sticks - I don't mind that Neil endorses them, but that's not why I use them. :D

The first if those pics show myself in action while recording the tracks for the most recent release by one one of the bands I'm in, Aether, namely Part IX of "Odyssey, The Greatest Tale", an effort produced by Finnish prog-rock magazine Colossus and released by Belgian Musea Records which counted with other eight bands from all around the world. The instruments are my custom made Odery drums in exquisite purple lacquer finish.

The other one depicts me on a show by my former band, Cafe Sound, where I played a lot of drums and also sang some bits and backing vocals.

Welcome to the forum. Just a small word of advice: your band might want to consider a name change. The Jam was the name of a very famous punk/rock band from the UK in the late 70's. (Check out 'Going Underground' great song) great band, incidentally the drummer played Roger's drums before they were bad.

Either way, cool to hear you're into the classic rock. Keep rocking.

Well...Class A, I thought about buying the AJ6 BUT I just switched over to maple wood and the AJ6 are hickory, just too heavy for me, seems to be an amazing Jazz stick and if there would be a maple version I`d buy them...

Umm Crimea was good. But it becomes too expensive for ukrainians, when the service and other stuff still has pretty low level. Sad, but true...
I've come to conclusion that it would be cheaper and better (in all ways) to go for the vacations abroad than to my native country. Haha.

I've been relatively sparse this summer...but I still exist. Here's a relatively recent shot of me and the the girl that's made my life complete for the last 6 months. :-) Nick and Nikki...pretty silly eh? Luckily for me, silly in the absolute BEST way possible.

...Just to let you guys know how busy i've been, I'm on my way out the door to a rehearsal with a new blues trio, well..new to me, they have 4 cd's out, then after that I've got a gig with a singer/songwriter, followed by a meeting with a guy who wants me to play "High end corporate jazz gigs" in his 5 piece band, then tomorrow I have a rehearsal with a group that's playing a show on november 13th and needed a sub drummer, then an audition with a signed piano rock band that's going on tour in Japan in about a month or so for a while and needs someone to play with them...THEN (no joke) I have to get together with the sax player who's starting a funk big band and wants to see what kind of songs I'd like to do if I joined.

That's cool! I went to a drum off a couple weeks ago and met a guy that was in a T.O.P. like funk band. There aren't enough of that kind of band around.

She's absolutely beautiful and amazing in every sense. I've never really felt this way about anyone...and fortunately, the feeling is mutual. I'm lucky...no doubt about that. :-)

yay... me playing the drums. those are not my drums... those are my drummer's drums (from the common men) and since we (the common men) were playing third... he set his up... i didn't have a use for an ariel tom that night... so it was snare, floor tom, and bass drum for me.
