That's pretty unique. Really makes it looks like it's a ghost drum or something... has this eery floating quality to it. Looks cool.

SJC is just about as custom as you can get. Those are beauties. I especially like the wood badges with your name on them.

Wow guys, thanks for all the comments!! I appreciate them all!

To answer / respond,

gruntersdad, it does scream, but it's music to my ears!! loud and tight, i love it.

burnthehero: Sort of..the finish is a wromy maple veneer with a medium brown walnut stain with a lacquer that was tinted honey amber. The snare was faded to match the kit.

Hateplow: The wood badges are awesome, they are probably my favorite part too!! The name badge was Mike, the co-owner of the company's idea. He thought it would be cool to have two. They are also raised off the drum almost as far as the lugs are. Makes for a cool effect. The Victorian script is the same one used for the badges on the drummer from Panic! at the disco's kit.

please feel free to post any questions!!

like that ipod ad, "sjc, is my hot hot sex :D" I LOVE sjc drums! If only I had the money, or an endorsement :D

The woody veneer was actually a suggestion from Mike, one of the owners...he was the guy who helped me design the kit...punkdrummer, they are always accepting demos. Send one up...you never know what might happen! Those are great guys up there!

Wow, you are a very lucky man. Your snare is unique, to say the least. But your kit is just out of this world. That wood grain and finish is perfect.

Cavica, You should def. give SJC a look, they are great guys to work with and their craftsmanship speaks for its self. Email them, (info@sjcdrums.com) and ask em some questions.....tell em Matt sent you, lol....you would love their stuff.

Katman, thats exactly what I was talking about in the other thread....no production company can do that, lol...thank you again for your compliments.

Wooho, looks arty!
First I didn`t see the acrylic really and I thought it was accidentally cut. Mh, basically it was...but not accidentally, haha!
Have never tried those hybrid (wood-acrylic) drums, yet. Will the acryl add more volume and "coolness"?
And is it usual that the lugs are off-set a bit?

However...what a beauty!

Karl,

Tanks for the compliment! The acrylic section adds fullness and body. and a heck of a lot of volume. It hits hard, lol...perfect for my style of music.

Cool snare! I like how you got the best of both worlds: acrylic and wood.

Did you have a good experience with SJC? good customer service?

Sometime in the distant future I'd like to get a custom kit.

They are very down to earth guys and are always willing to help out drummers in designing their kit. I can honestly say that after working with them, i wouldn never buy a custom kit from any other company. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions !!

Wormy maple Veneer
Custom satin stain
Custom fade outer to center

Custom Victorian AJC badge
Custom name badge

Think I got them all, lol.

That is a really cool snare!

The kit finish is really nice, very classy and cool. Wow.

8" snares are cool sounding anyway, but THIS is way awesome!

This kit would really turn some heads at shows, and that snare will freak people out.

I'd be super stoked to show up at a gig with that.

Sounds like you got a great deal on the kit from the previous post.

I dig a lot of the stuff on the SJC site, & yes, it is drum porn!

Karl: That snare does freak people out, especially sound guys trying to control it, lol....And I did get a great deal on it from SJC, they took really good care of me.

Viktors: I'm glad you dig it, and I assure you, it sounds as good as it looks.

Bojangleman, im serious, if you find your way up here lte me know and we'll arange something

What a beauty!
I love snares with acrylic inbetween the wood, it looks amazing!!!!
Does it resonate like a regular wood shell?

matt986
02-21-2008, 11:30 PM
Hey twentyeightyfive, no it doesn't resonate like regular wood, has a bit more tone and depth to it. There's a fullness there that is really evident in the acrylic that i don't normally hear in the wood.

Hey everyone, my band has finished some of the songs on our most recent album. If you are curious how an SJC kit sounds, these songs feature the kit and snare posted previously. I also use my 14x7 maple on a couple of tracks. Please listen when you can! one is included here, but more samples can be found at facebook.com/totherescueband
