OK OK.. before you yell at me fourstrings keep in mind that this actually wasn't even wet sanded or buffed yet... lol I just wanted to put the hardware on it so I could get the hardware out of my way. Once I finish up all the drums I'm working on I'll take this one apart and finish it right.

Purpleheart shell (that's the natural color of the wood) with beavertail lugs and some very custom wood hoops with matching purpleheart inlay. She's pretty!

She's pretty? What an understatement. I'd love to have that beauty in my snare basket any day. Without a doubt the sound must be phenomenal.

Ya know... I don't even know what it sounds like yet. I had too many customer drums to work on to fiddle and I knew if I started playing around with it I'd get distracted. Just tossed the hardware on there, took some photos, and set it aside. Going to wait till the customer drums are done before I play it... we'll call it incentive!

She's a beauty. Are those Stellar Hoops? What size was the shell again?

Can't wait to hear how it sounds when finished!

Great looks! Color, finish, hardware, and those hoops! Wow. Nicest trim of any hoops I've seen. Just fabulous.

Do the tension rod screws come into play with rim shots?

doesn't look like it, the rim comes up just slightly more than the screw.

Yeah...it is indeed! Looks very exotic, especially those hoops.
Will you have some sound clips? I`m very excited about its sound actually...what kind of shell is that? Ply, steambent, segment?

It's a steambent like all the other snare's he's done lately.

The aluminum drum I'm doing wasn't bent with steam! ;) But yea it's a vaughncraft steambent shell. Don't really know how it sounds yet... still finishing up the drums for clients. SOOON!

That is a remarkable looking snare. It makes me want to try and build something like it, even though I know absolutely nothing about it.

That's a nice snare! It's got a cool vintage yet exotic vibe to it.

Usually I don't like the look of wood hoops - most of the time they look like some lumberjack just cut of a big chunky piece of tree, sanded it and slapped it on the shell in my opinion. But I must admit that these I find very nice.

A wonderful piece of craftsmanship, well done!

Haha.. thanks again guys =) Those of you that want to try building... go for it. Just a warning though, it's very addicting!

I'm freezing my butt off today out wet sanding a few drums.. just a couple more days of work and I'll be able to play my own drum.

Hi Tim,

That snare kinda reminds me of an old Slingerland. It has a retro look. Really nice work!

I haven't messed with wood hoops yet, but i'm thinking I should.

You build some rocking stuff!!

Take care.
