First the snare and then the renown maple recorded. I put the sound file here since its not a sample of my playing as much as it is showing off the drums, enjoy and move this if need be.

Glad ya like it!! Dare I ask how cranked that thing is? lol You've got her pretty darn tight to get that sound out of a 7" deep snare. =) Good to know it's so versatile though.

Its tight and I will bring it down in a couple of days after all of the stretch is out. Then do another sound file with it lower.

Snare sounds awesome, what is the size of it?

Very nice sound, lots of body and snap. I too would like to hear it with looser tuning, once the heads have stretched. Good recording too - what gear did you use?

Class A the drum is 14 x 7, thanks.

DMG..I will lower it tomorrow. I used my M-Audio Pre USB 2 channel mixer, with Garage Band, with 2 condenser mics, one over the drums and the other about the level of the top of the bass drum and about four feet away to the front.

Wow that sounds great. Tim said it was "silly sensitive" and I can tell. The Renowns sound great too.

My Myrtle might be here next week, so I'll post clips of it then too :)

Man, GD, that sounds fabuous! Love the snare and your rolls sound very sweet on those toms. Your toms sing! I wasn't expecting that sound after looking at the pic's with the coated batters ... nice surprise. Is your kick muffled? It doesn't sing to my ears like those toms ... maybe it is the way you have it miked. Anyway, enjoyed your playing and the sweet sounding kit. Joey

Joey, the problem with the bass drum is my bad habit of burying the beater. I will do another sound file when I lower the tone of the snare and show you how this bass booms. Something to do with old dog, new trick. And thanks.

Yep...I agree with crazyhorse...that`s sounding pretty tight for such a deep shell. I like it, the sound of the kit is excellent!
Now recording a Tower of Power album with this snare...I`m sure David would love it!

Nice sounding snare,GD. I like the sound of your toms, also. I'd love to hear it again at other timbres. I like the light touch you seem to apply to your playing as well. Good one, mate!

Thank you EV 105. I promised new sound bytes this weekend but will do them tomorrow. Half day of work. I have the snare detuned to an old school Brian Setzer Stray Cat tone, just wish I could get rid of the snare buzz so I could do a better tom solo. Anyway, new sounds coming.

Sounds great man. I just picked up the same kit, and I find that the toms really like the higher pitches. What do you think? Plenty of attack, but it's got lots and lots of tone too.

What color finish did you end up with?

Mine are the same Cherry Burst that yours are. I have them tuned as low as they seemed to like.
