Had an audition for a blindingly good heavy rock band called 'Medusa Rising'; they asked me to learn 3 covers and one was NIB by the mighty Black Sabbath!! I recorded my playing along while practising and was reasonably pleased!
Had to post it on my myspace as dw doesnt seem to want me to post the mp3 on here!!
The audition went great; you know when you sit down and feel like you've been in the band all your life?? Sadly, it took me over 3 hours to get to where they are based and logistically its just not realistic to join, but we are staying in touch and I'm going over again after xmas for a jam and a beer [or 10!!]
Think I quite like rock music....

Big J, that was awesome! You defintely sound the part. Great time, super groove, totally under control fills, and I love the tightly squeezed hats suddenly opening up and turning trashy.
Great playing..Medusa is missing out..

Very nice bro, although it seems like an awful lot of drags to me.
Impressive chops... Awesome job man...ROCK ON!!! When playing Ozzie you have to scream I LOVE YOU ALL atleast 3 times for every song.
What did you use to record that?
By the way great job on wipeout too.

Tried the screaming but scared my dogs!! Recorded roland kit with Audacity programme; very simple, so I can use it!! LMBFAO!

Nice, what kind of Roland Brain do you have. I told the wife that I want to start saving for an electric kit and would love to record stuff like that.. Although my drumming is not as good as yours. What do you recommend as far as pads? I have seen the white mesh ones and they feel much better but are also probably way out of my price range.

I got the basic kit, roland td3, last autumn [fall?] for space and noise considerations, and on the whole have been pleased. But they're certainly not the same as playing 'normal' drums; the studio I auditioned at had a Ludwig accent and it felt awesome to play real again!!
On the pads; my 'snare' is mesh, the others are solid rubber, and the feel is pretty similar, I find the mesh head [or the brain] isnt as sensitive as Id like, when I try to accent a snare fill the accents seem to blend into the fill. - but,as I say, perhaps thats the brain as opposed to the pads.
I would recommend a td3 as a practice tool as well as acoustic drums, and certainly for recording yourself they're ideal; plug a jack lead into your computer, find Audacity program, record...must be easy if I can do it!! You will be restricted on what you play/record but financially the bottom of the range kits are probably your best bet!!
Best of luck persuading the wife, all the best, jon

I tried to check out the clips but while I waited for the player to load, I wandered into Chelss' page...Black Sabbath got nothin' on her.

Those drags are incredibley easy with the Roland snares, eh? Easy to abuse...
Very good chops, I like the way you made that song all about the drums. I have that tendancy, too.

Too be honest jon, from the stuff Ive heard of you before, I wasnt expecting it to be nearly as good at it was. I had hears in your other video some time issues, but this was strong tempo wise and you did a nice job with it. Of course V-drums can be forgiving in some aspects, but you played really solid and some really nice playing. I can definitely hear improvement in youre playing man.

Hey Jon!
You know I love ya man, so this will be no surprise.
Ozzy and Jon, Kindred Spirits, born of the same DNA. I know you said that you haven't listened to much Ozzy, but it doesn't show here. You managed to capture both the energy and spirit. And much energy there was!
I agree with brittc89...This was the best technique and timing of all of your recordings I've head so far. (You're either getting better or playing sober!...LOL!) Your rolls were powerful and smooth and your cymbal work was..eh..musical! Yeah, that's it Jon, you played MUSICAL!
I can't wait for more!
Think I quite like rock music also...

But I can't be musical Keith....I'm a drummer! LOL! As always your kindness flatters me my friend, and yes I was sober!!
Very strange tho....when I'm drunk I think I play great...but when I'm sober other ppl think I play well..??
As for 'sharing dna with Mr Osbourne'....I was adopted as a baby..do ya think...could I be....NAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!
Thanx again dude, your comments fill me with pride [and motivation to improve!!] jc
