she is my pride and joy.
my 89' premier royale,i have taken off my second rack tom, as i enjoy playing the 4piece set up much more.
it still has all its original hardware (except a few boom stands and my double pedal)
i have its original skins in storage, and i am using remo weatherking ambassadors on the toms and front bass, remo coated powerstroke4 on snare and back of bass.
by far, this kit has the best snare i have played.
i own a pearl chad smith signature snare, and joey jordison signature snare and a vinnie paul signature snare and by far this premier one wins.
+++++++++++++++
i will put some pictures up of my mapex as soon as i get some cymbals for it.
thanks for looking at my thread guys.

awesome kit dude, just one question though.
whats your opinion on the planet Z series cymbals?
i saw you had some and thought id ask
i had some for my first cymbals and they weren't that great, pretty much just dead metal

the ride has a nice bell, i think, but the rest are just dead metal.
they are my first set of cymbals.
apart from the original premier ones..i htink they were called "zyns" or something like that.
they sucked, and i just wanted somehting to sound a little better than them.

i had an 18" Crash/Ride, the bell on that was probably the best thing in the whole cymbal pack. i guess theyre pretty good for a first cymabl pack, but once i got rid of them i could not be happier! haha

haha, i think i might just get a set of b8's and a wuhan china next.
i have less than $600AUS to spend on cymbals, so i cant much with it. but i need 2 sets of cymbals, 1 for each kit.
otherwis ei would just get one k or somehting.
what did you get after the planet z's?

B8s aren't that much better than Planet Z's in my opinion. You should check out Saluda. They have GREAT prices, they take trades on your old stuff, and they use the good metal alloy. They'd be head and shoulders above the B8s, or any other entry level cymbal out there for that matter. If not them, the Sabian XS offers the good B20 bronze (I think that's what it's called), and is really reasonably priced, with a pretty good sound to boot. I have a 16" XS crash and a 20" XS ride, and they're pretty good over all. I'm pretty sure the ride was $120 and the crash was like $100 tops.

after the planet z's i got a some zbts which are much better,
but ive been trading them out for a customs lately which are just godly
if you need 2 packs, i dunno if you can get anything decent for that amount,
maybe some staggs? they go really cheap and are cast. i had a stagg and it withstood
quite the beating, it never cracked or nothing, i just sold it for a stand.
so yeh, i reckon hunt down some staggs. theyre probably the best you'll get for that much

i have a zbt splash, it broke on me within the two weeks i had it, i got it really cheap though, it was $90AUS at my local music workshop.

the zbt's i got were $495AUS but you can get them now with a free 10" splash.
to me, i thought the ride was the weakest link in the pack, it was too dark
for my liking, but you might like it so give them a shot, mine have lasted about 2 years now

zbt's to me are a bit over priced for there quality. I love that pearl crash. My friend said the wild stuff is just a copy of the rude stuff. He has a pearl wild sound edge hi-hats. I love the kit man :D

Upgrade one bye one and just keep one set of cymbals and transfer them back and forth. You don't have enough money to waste your time buying B8s that you'll have to replace later, let alone 2 sets of B8s that you'll have to replace later.

Don't get the ZBT's. Get one set of quality cymbals piece by piece and use them on both kits. Seriously, go and trawl on eBay and see what you can find at the very least. Second hand cymbals are always cheaper and you can usually get a full set of quality used cymbals for the same price you can get a set of new, but poor quality cymbals.

The dog on the trampoline in the window in the background made me chuckle. =)
But yeah I'm going to be buying me my first cymbal upgrade next week (christmas YAY) and it's a B8 set with 16 and 18" crashes, 20" ride, 10" splash, and 14" hats. Can't wait.

Classy looking Premiers! My first kit was a mid-60's era Premier kit, and I still have a soft spot for those babies! Very nice.
I can't wait to see the pics of your Mapex kit!!
