Here's the band in a jazzy mood... We all really like jazz, none of us really play it... but sometimes we pretend to..
here's the hodge podge, somewhere between the swing and a 4x4...
( p.s. the snare-in-your -face, and the wierd mix problems remain.. )

Nice playing aydee! It may not be purist jazz but you guys still managed to pull off that dentist's office sound pretty well.
I think that was a compliment...

You know what? It reminds me of Dennis Chambers and John Scofield in the 80`s a lot....for Bop your bass drum sounds really punchy...but it sounds awesome!
And well, Jazz is such a big area to move on...Don`t say it couldn`t be considered as Jazz. ;-)
Sounds great, you tend to keep the backbeat on the snare through the spang-a-lang parts as well...sounds good, combines "both parts" well....though keep up swinging...sounds good so far...did you work with spang-a-lang and comping already?

Dig 'em snappy-'n'-happy lil' snare rolls, 'dee... dig 'em very much! They have a slightly steelydan-ish sound to them. And, although this might be utterly coincidental, I imagine I heard some Metheny licks on the guitar... Namely, the intro theme to Stranger in Town.

Abe, you never cease to amaze me with these single releases. Your over-critical about the sound. STOP justifying why you think your songs are not up to par. I am sitting here amazed at the sound quality and the skill of your drumming. The bassist is bad-ass. My fave is still Mezzzoforte. Your inspirational my brother. Also, I love the snare overload. I love to hear a FAT snare. Reminds me of Gadd and his deep snare.
Are you a fan of Carter Beauford?
Also, you need to put a face behind the music. Give us a pic of you sitting behind your kit. :-)

Thanks Karl, we swung into the bop thing very spontaneously.. so I was sort of in between. If you notice, the bassist and me were trying to pull it to swing and the keys and guitar were fighting it ..: )
...and I felt like one of those guys who rides 2 horses.
The kit is anything but a bop kit.. thats a 24"x 14" Tama Imperialstar bass drum, so yes. its punchy..( I need your kind of sound/playing for this track! )

Thanks, Wave, yes there was a point in my life when I ate Steely Dan for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
You ARE a sharp listener.
Sy is a terrific guitarist who listens to a lot of Metheny, Sco, Scott Henderson, Bonamassa..The guitarist he worships thesedays is Michael Landau.
He's from LA with a very un- LA sound

Thanks Cory, with all your positive encouragement, you certainly are my bro! : )
I do suffer from the "why-dont-I-sound-like-what-I-think-I-should-like" syndrome.
I figure by putting the stuff up here, I'll get good feedback..
though, I hope to put up some stuff soon that I might be less apologetic about ; )
I love Carter B.. Very few drummers I dont like in the jazz/fusion/funk/improv space
Pic? I think I have a pic somewhere. Will post it up soon..

Sounds great man, your band fits the definition of fusion in my eyes definitely that Chambers/Scofield feel. I love it!!!

I agree with That Guy, my favourite is Mezzzoforte. Reminds me of a bit of Brighter Side (radeq), but the overall sound is a bit more like Dave Weckl stuff back in the 90's/late 80's. All the tunes are great- well done.

Faux or not, that sounded very good. I couldn't help but tap my feet listening to it. And the snare rolls were a nice touch.

I really like that...and yes, the bass drum is true punch...but for this kind of thing you did it`s cool. For me it`s still a problem to get an open, yet soft sounding sound out of my 22" Superstar bass drum. If it`s open sounding...it`s like a bomb.

That was totally kick-butt, bro! Very fitting, great ride work, and nice fills. I'm super-impressed.

That was great, your playing really fits well with the rest of the band and compliment each other perfectly, nice snare sound as well.
