Hey, I really enjoyed watching that! You really have a lot of talent with orchestrating latin rhythms between the hands and feet. There were a lot of great sounding patterns you built up, especially for an improvised solo. Also you showed a lot of talent with the occasional switch into jazz mode. By the way, your hand technique seems impeccable, and you have great speed while still maintaining a major sense of feel and drive and not just focusing on technique.
Yeah! I really enjoyed it. Nicely done.

I really liked the fluidness between phrases.

That was cool. What you play at around 3:50 - 3:55 is definetly a Mark Guiliana type of thing. He's one of my favorite drummers that I've seen recently. You got some skills my friend, I had no problem watching the whole thing. Keep it up.

Yeah man that was really interesting - modern yet had this latin feel. I would like to see more fluency between ideas, it seemed kinda jerky at times. Nice hands though and good exploration of the textures of your kit nice sounds and tones produced. Keep playing!

I loved it, you didn't overplay at all, and I really enjoyed your use of silence at times.

Thanks alot for the comments guys!
Busy b - Mark Guiliana is indeed one of my biggest inspirations lately, and i take alot of things from him.
And foursticks - i know it was kinda messy overall, and i had a dilemma if i should publish it or not, but i guess when you're improvising without any form things will get somewhat messy, so i just said lets do it.

That was some very cool stuff man. Interestingly enough, from even that first little pattern I could tell you dug Mark Guilliana. I kinda of agree with foursticks, that there are some jerky transitions, but thats because you had A TON of them. SO there were some that were really cool and good. Heres one solution, I can think of, think in phrases and in looooonger phrase. I can tell you have kind of a 4-8 bar thing goin on in your head, maybe try expanding that to thinking at times of a sixteen bar phrase. The easiest way I have found to be able to do this is to think of a melody and play over top it and develop permutations of that and develop my ideas in more of a musical song structure. It can be hard on a totally improvised solo, but it will add a lot of that thing weve been talking about lately, "musicality." Really nice playing man. ANd you have a unique sound which great. I enjoyed it.

Late to the thread, but it least I found it. Man, you are a playa! If you follow up with the ideas expressed in that small video, you're going to thrill a lot of people down the road with you sense of musicality and chops. And, by clicking on your page and surfing for a bit, I came across some sweet music I most likely never would have been exposed to ... Avishai Cohen and Mark Guiliana. This forum is the nuts. Thanks again. Joey
