Playing with screwdrivers

First off, the Ludwigs are gone. A friend of my brother bought them for her son as a Christmas present. I kept the snare drum and threw in my Supra-Fau-nic, as I really like that Ludwig snare, and it was a part of an evil plan. The kid is a real Beatles fan, and not being allowed to play with those drums is driving him crazy. I hope that enthusiasm never leaves him.

Next up, I bought one of those Pacific 14x5.5" wood hooped maple snare drums. I bought it used with my evil plan in mind. I checked the lug spacing between the Ludwig lugs on my Ludwig snare, and low and behold. They had the same spacing as the Pacific tube lugs.

I also wondered what big beefy wood hoops would do to the sound of an edge snare.

Looks like the plan worked out nicely. The ludwig with die cast hoops and tube lugs is to die for. But next time you're selling a Beatles replica kit... you know where to find me.

Definately looks cool! I love the way the "edge" snare looks. If you have the ability, could you put up a sound clip of those snares.I would love to hear them all!
