Man that is Gorgeous. Good work. My neighbors will love the new sound. Thanks.

Edit. Is there a vent hole on the drum??

Yep... 1/2 threaded diecast venthole.

For those of you that aren't familiar with it.. this is a steambent 14 x 7 maple drum similar to Craviotto only built by me instead. =)

Looks great John. I can't wait to hear how it sounds :) (You still owe us a recording of the Renowns) :)

Really? There must be some sort of mix-up. I believe that drum is mine.

Well it was worth a try but I'm just so jealous of all these guys around here lately getting their own handmade steambent drums! And they all look too good. I might have to get one of my own if I weren't broke.

As soon as Santa(UPS) gets it here I will do a little sound byte for all to hear. I'm also excited to hear this baby.

Mine was the same as Robs. At least thats what my lawyer told me to say.

Edit: I just got some information from an Elf that Santa has loaded my drum into his sleigh and its headed my way. Best gift of all for sure.

Whoa! That's a lot more reasonable than I thought good-looking drums like these that crazyhorse is churning out would be. Man, no wonder everyone's snapping these up. Looks great!

No doubt...for a 14 x 7 maple steambent. It will have the sound of the orchestra snare I played in highschool if I want, I can tune it nice and fat like old school or crank it up and fill any room. Some of you in the Georgia, Alabama area may be able to hear it with my windows open.

The factory that Santa gets his parts for my drums through just shipped them today, so Santa should have them Monday. With any luck I'll have it sometime by the end of next week.

I got a deal on a bunch of shell thus the price... minimum would normally be at least 100-150 more depending on the shell, etc. =) Down to 3 shells now

I'm tapped out with a shell on order from Unix but I'll be doing business with you someday soon enough. I aim to collect all exotic construction types at some point: stave, solid, steam bent and block. It will be cool because the only plywood in my house will have paint or carpet on it!

Haha.. no worries man, you got the better craftsman in Unix anyways =) He's sort of been my mentor whenever I had questions about finishing, etc. Just save those pennies for a magnesium drum too lol

STEAMBENT WILLIE has landed in Florida and brought some North Carolina cold with it. Our UPS driver delivered Willie this morning at about 10:30. Even the guys here that know nothing about drums said it was a great looking drum. I will get it home later and take a few pix, and then work on the sound bytes. Thanks again Tim for the work. Its a beaut.

Tonight will be tuning and testing. Tomorrow night could be different. And I must say the finishing job on the lap-seam is perfect. aboslutely flawless inside and out.

Stopped on the way home at the local music store and picked up my favorite Evans Genera DRY HD batter head for this baby. Took the stock head off and I have to tell you the bearing edge with the reinforcement rings was as smooth as a baby's behind. What great work on this beauty. Now with the Genera head on this baby it sounds absolutely wonderful. This weekend or maybe sooner if I can I will put up the sound file of this snare and the Gretsch Renowns.
