Hey guys :)
this is a really rough mix (only the first heavy part has been fiddled with), so the levels aren't final in any way, but i wanted to start getting opinions and seeing how much interest there is in this style of music - We're all 23 years old, and it's our first effort, musically.

So far, it's only myself and my friend David working on everything. We've been writing riffs for about 2 months so far, and there are 3 songs that are being mixed at the moment. Each have a totally different feel, so if you don't enjoy this, i'm sure you'll find something else you like ;-)
also, i've been playing drums for a year now, so any feedback about my playing or the drum sound would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, so far this sounds professionally done. I love the intro, and the clean, full sound you guys have. I'd love to play in a band like this, myself. Just enough of an expressive, emotional feel, with plenty of rockin parts just where they're needed. I like the ambient guitar (I think it's guitar) riffs. Drumming is solid and confident. Just enough, and not too much. For your first attempt at this, you guys are off to a great start! This is something I'd put on my IPOD. As a matter of fact, I think i'll do that....

Bloody oath!
I love it!
Record more! Now!
You have a lot of talent for someone playing as long as you have!
I'm a huge opeth fan, and this sounds fantastic!

Sounds like you have put a huge amount of work into your drumming over the past year. Very tight and you seem to know how much is enough - which is not always the case with less experienced drummers who try and cram all their chops into each song.
Your drums sound great too - specially your toms. Nice full tone.
Not really my kind of music, but very nicely played and recorded. Well done.

thanks fellow drummers :-)
i appreciate the feedback on drum tone, especially - i've talked with our engineer, and we're going to go for a more natural sound all around - less high-end clickyness on the snare and bass, especially. the toms should step forward a bit after those changes are made, and of course, nothing was mixed properly beyond the first 2 minutes of the track.
i TRULY appreciate the compliments and criticism !! it's looking like Friday should be the day we get some samples of ALL the tracks up, and i think you'll really like them ;-)
take care -

chris, man are you improving by the minute, or what ! Great great playing! We'll be buying you records soon, at this rate.
The sound was very good too. Yeah, a little more separation in the drums ( the sounds are great, in themselves) might be nice..
On the engineering, a little overdone, perhaps,IMO...

CHRIS!
I love it. Simply love it. Is Gavin Harrison an influence? Simon Phillips?
You definitly sound so individual, straight and it sounds so emotional.
Awesome work....are you gonna record more?

i'm very influenced by Gavin, and other drummers like Lenny White, Thomas Haake, Martin Lopez (opeth), and Dan Gottlieb (Pat Metheny), to name a few

Hey, I've only posted a couple times and I don't visit this forum all that much, but I had to sign in to let you know I listened to your samples on myspace and really enjoy your material.

Excellent playing!! You have a great ear for what the song needs. For just playing a year you sound quite seasoned. If your group keeps putting out tracks like these y'all will go very far.
Drums sound really good. Nice tone. The toms sing nicely.

I don't know if y'all are planning to put lyrics to these tracks, but they sound really good as is. Maybe you should do like Neil Peart and "Leave that thing alone."
