My New Treehouse Set

It has been a while since I have been to this forum so I figured now would be a great time to update.

We are knee deep in pre-production right now. It is a learning experience every day it seems like. I run through so many emotions; joy, frustration, etc. Anyway, I just got my new Treehouse last week. Awesome as usual, but one difference; Completely different sizes than I am used to. I usually play a 20” and I am now using a 24”! Quite a jump. All around the kit is much bigger than I am used to, took a little getting used to, but it sounds amazing and actually feels really comfortable.

So here you go!

Very nice!! That is quite a jump from a 20" kick. This is another brand I have never heard of. Are they Keller shells? It is a beautiful kit, nice cymbals, and nice setup....NICE!!

Neat looking set. I like how the top of the bass is higher than any of the other drums - gives it a really eye-catching look. Never heard of Treehouse but the sure look good.

I suspect you have the green tape on the floor to help with placement, but it is distracting. I put small bits of tape on the carpet directly under the feet tips, so I get exact placement and the feet hide the tape.

They are Keller shells. The company is owned by a guy who used to run a few of C&C's stores.

The green tape is easy to see backstage when the lights are low and you are setting up with a flashlight. No one can see the tape from the crowd when the kit is on stage and on a drum riser. But, yes... it is bright.

It shines nicely. It sounds great miced as well. Just hearing it on our rough pre-prod tracks makes me even more excited to hear them in the studio.

The set up came from our producers recommendation. At first I was skeptical, but I gave it a chance and now I love it. I definitely can hear what he is going for. and as far as the cymbals... you can't go wrong with K's.

I've known the owner of Treehouse for some time now. Thus, I have had a long working relationship with the company.

I used to play 18x20, 7x10, 12x14 and 7x13 snare. Well, our producer sent me his laundry list of suggestions. One of them was large drums sizes and big, dark cymbals. So... I went into Treehouse with the letter and this is what I ended up with. Definitely a 180, but I do like the results.

The projection crash is pretty loud, but the Soundlab Prototype is by far the loudest.
