It's been a while since Ive posted any pics of my kit on here, I did a gig today and took some pics.

My kit is a PDP CX series in a Blue Onyx wrap.

So in these pics the drums I am using are:
10x8 Tom (Leedy) with mesh head, off my practice kit, will explain in a minute.
12x9 Tom
16x14 Floor Tom
14x5 Snare
22x18 kick
10x5 Sonor Popcorn Snare
LP Fibreglass Bongos

Cymbals:
14in Zildjian "A" series Rock Hihats
16in Zildjian "Z" series Power Crash
17in Zildjian "A Custom" Fast Crash
20in Paiste 2002 Power Crash
20in Zildjian "A" series Medium Ride (bought it in 1985, has Zildjian - Made in Canada stamp)
18in Zildjian "Impulse" series China

Electronics:
Roland TD8 Module
Roland and DDT triggers

Ive just landed an endorsement with Zildjian, so I am going to be updating all my cymbals over the next 12 months. I bought the Fast Crash 2 weeks ago, and absolutely love it. Was my first purchase through the endorsement deal.

Now to the Leedy tom. I use a tom with a mesh head triggered as a kick drum. Because of my Cerebral Palsy, I cant play a double kick pedal, so I can get double kick stuff happening using Right foot and left hand. I generally use triggers on my kit just to make it louder and more consistant due to my lack of strength in my legs.

I also have a 14inch floor tom, which I am considering putting legs on. What do you guys suggest? Maybe a RIMS cradle?

Cheers,

Andy

I love the CX series, they sound and look great, very cool!

I will tell you a little trick I did on mine. The bass drum hoops on the CX kits are bare wood on the inside. Take a little time, get a spray can of clear, mask if the wrap and shoot a few thin coats on the bare wood. This will stop them from getting stained by dirty hands and even clean hands, after a while the oils on your skin will stain them.

Hey man, I saw your kick alternative vid a long time ago, That was a great idea! 'Gratz on landing an endorsement with Zildjian, that's a pretty big accomplishment! Your setup is so clean, I dig it big time, cool kit and killer cymbals!

Thanks guys for your comments. I love my PDP kit.

Endorsements are handy, not only I get hefty discounts, but whenever I travel interstate, DW supply me with drums and Zildjian supply me with cymbals.

A lot of my cymbals are getting old... Z crash is from 1990 and sounds a little clangy for my liking. You have to really hit it to get a good sound.

In the New Year Im replacing the 2002 crash with a 19in K Custom Hybrid Crash. Did a gig in Melbourne recently, some of you may have seen my toilet brush drum solo (www.drummerstix.com.au/video/amta_toiletbrushsolo.wmv), anyway, I had the A&R guy from Zildjian Australia as my drum tech for the gig. He brought along a case of new goodies for me to try out at the gig.

That kick alternatives video was done a while ago, so I need to record some new ideas. I am planning my 2nd DVD to be released by July next year which will cover some of these alternative methods I use to overcome challenges on my kit. My current DVD "Alternatives In Music presents Andrew Hewitt" has been reviewed in the December issue of UK's Rhythm magazine. Im still waiting for my copy to arrive, so not sure what they have said... hope its good lol

I need to get some more clamps for my rack, so I can bring the bongos in closer, and also mount the popcorn snare to give it more movement.

Anyway thanks guys.
