New here - My kits

Hey folks, I am pretty new here, but I've been hanging 'round for awhile now and thought I would post some pics of my kits. The first is a pic of my 65 Slingerlands. This was my first kit & I love it. The other kit is my Gretsch Renown Maples. I love this kit as well & have been very pleased with it. I went with the A Customs & am generally happy with them as well. I still have not found any cymbals I like as well as the Paiste Signatures, but these work nicely for me.

I get a lot of strange reactions to my setup. I keep my toms extremely low, almost on an even line with my snare. It's just more comfy for me. I don't see many setups like it... thoughts?

Yeah, Honestly, the rack is a bit cumbersome, but with the virgin bass drum, it was the only route I could take. Plus, I already had the rack and finally got to use it..!

wow you really do have a KICK drum with Gretsch...there is no pedal on show =D

Just kidding with ya, really like both kits, nice unique setup with the toms too. You don't see many kits setup like that.

LOL. I wondered how long it would take for someone to notice that. Although I have two kits, I only have one pedal, so it travels from set to set. I hope Santa gets my request this year... :-)

Nice kits, I love Gretsch Renown maples. Beautiful look and sound. I'm not really one for the low tom setup but whatever works. Hopefully you can pick up another pedal soon.

Love both kits and your set-ups. Pearl DR-100 rack? What a workhorse. Grandfather to the Icon. I used one for 10 years.

Both kits look gorgeous, Like the set up, I would try that if my toms were not mounted on the BD.

Did you have Paiste Signatures at one point? I know someone who is selling a nice pair of Sig. soundedge hats : )

I have that snare drum, it cuts really well with an Evans HD Dry head on it.

punkdrummer1 - The snare works for me. When I gig, I use my Slingerland Krupa, but this one works fine as a backup. The rack is a bit large & hard to transport, but again, it does what I need it to do. I think it works a lot better than the round bar racks.

nhzozo - A friend of mine has the signatures & I have never found another line that I like as well as them. I do love my A Customs, but in my perfect world, Paiste would still make the Signature series.

the popes love child - Yeah, I have heard that this snare is adequate IF you replace the heads. I need to do that after the holidays. What kind of head did you use on the snare side?

NIMBY - The bass drum is like a cannon. It has me spoiled now & I find it hard to appreciate my 20" Slingerland now.

Hazy 300, I think. I'm too lazy too look it up, it's just the medium weight Evans snare side head. But yeah, I have the Reso cranked way up, and the batter high, but not so high that you lose your sensitivity, that's the best way I can describe it. Cuts really well, can be very versatile depending on the tension of the snare wires.

Can you tell me what Evans heads you are using on the Gretsch??

Very nice collection you have going on there!! I love the Gretsch, but I am quite partial to the white marine wrap on the Slingerlands. I have a couple of Paiste signatures and really do love how they sound.
