Mine was Smashmouth at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA, I was only 7 and don't remember much about it though.
I last saw The Black Crowes a month or two ago coincidentally also at the Electric Factory. I was really confused because they didn't play Remedy, Hard to Handle, She Talks to Angels, or Twice As Hard. That's like their 4 most popular songs.

Phil Collins....so long ago I can't even remember when it was. Went with a friend and his parents. Even though it was long before I played drums, I specifically remember him playing a drum solo and thinking it was pretty cool.

I saw the band Death (remember them? Gene Hogland on drums) when I was like 14 or something at some rat hole in Albuquerque. That wasn't that big a show, so maybe the one that really counts is when I saw Pantera a couple years later.
That's right. Pantera.

That's right. Pantera.
They put on an amazing show. Seeing them with Sabbath was as much of a thrill as seeing Sabbath themselves.
After the show, Vinnie was flinging his China's into the audience like a frisbee....to be the fan that they decapitated... :)

My first was Chicago Transit Authority at Pine Knob, third row, front & center. Danny Seraphine made quite an impression on a young wannabe Drummer (me) who had just picked up a 4-5 year old used set of white marine pearl Ludwig SuperClassics built back in 1965. I'll never forget that night, what a Group!

Same band for me (at Blossom Music Center near Akron, Ohio) - although I don't remember exactly what year - '71 - '72 maybe, so I would have been 11 or so.

I wish I could claim this one for myself - but a buddy in college would have beat us all. His older brother took him to see the Beatles when he was six years old, - what a bro'!

I saw Godsmack in a place called Malibu Alley (very small venue). That was in '99 so they weren't really big yet but they put on an awesome show. Sully never got behind the kit but he did some hand drum stuff with the drummer. For some strange reason I don't remember a lot of the show, everything got sort of 'cloudy' at some point :)

here is my take.
Neil played his normal, same every time precise like a machine technical solo. So for a Peart fan that is exactly what you want to see.
First I have to sat Travers in general was on fire! the band was at it's peak. Aldridge's solo was exactly what you would expect from him, lots of fire, lots of flash, It was great.
They are two completely different players and they both did what they do best. I would not say one was better then the other they were both great,
If I remember correctly I saw that show at the San Bernardino Swing Auditorium.

Either way what a cool concert and really I think both drummers were at there peak or damn close if my memory is correct that would've been the "Go for what you know" tour for PT and "Moving Pictures" for Rush what a show indeed.

That's funny my first concert was the J.Geils band at the Flint IMA in 78'
I went to a lot of Concert's at the IMA, way more than I can remember. My neighbor's Dad used to be an Usher there, which gave some good access...........
My favorite venue around here was Sherwood Forest. I spent so much time out there that I finally got hired on as a Stage Hand, which also made for some good access, well, when I wasn't moving gear around. Worked from 7 in the a.m. til 2 in the a.m., all for the princely sum of $10, but that was back in the early 70's, $$ went a little further back in those days...........

LVDCboy you got that right nowadays if you and your girl want to go to a concert between tickets, eats & drinks you might as well plan on spending about $150-$200 U.S.D and that's not even for a top-notch act.I think the only band I would spend a lot of money for has got to be Led-Zeppelin if they do a world or at least U.S. tour.we can only hope.

Same Kiss tour for me. 1983 at what was Irvine Meadows. Motley Crue opened for them. Great entertaining show. I saw my heroes that night.
It was the first time hearing Crue. I remember asking my dad about the "girl" singer in the band. He just chuckled and said it was a guy.
I also remember freaking out because it was the first time I ever saw anyone doing drugs in my life. I was 13 at the time. My dad had to calm me down.
My dad did a great job. To this day, I have never ever tried any drug in my life!!! Been drunk only a handful of times!

My first real concert was Skankin' Pickle. I was fourteen ('93/94ish). They played an all-ages show at a record shop in NO, a few hours prior to their gig at a club. They were great. I got to meet a couple of the band members and had them sign a poster for me. A couple friends of mine were hanging out with the rest of the band in their van. I remember their saxaphone player was upset because while setting up their gear at the club, a PA speaker fell and crushed his sax. He had to buy a used one from a local pawn shop.
My oldest son's first concert, sort of, was Clutch. He was still in the womb. I'm fairly certain he heard what was going on though.

mine would have to be Green Day at Gillete Stadium in 2005. It was The Used, Jimmy Eat World, and Green Day. it was so kick ass. there was one point where they played knowlage (really old song) and they invited kids on stae to play it. and they gave away a gibson les paul, one of tre's cymbals and a bunch of sticks, and the bassist got an autograph and a bass. i didnt go on stage though haha. though i'd share that. Foo Fighters this february at MSG was my first, im 16, also a late bloomer in the concert scene. We had General admission, we were like 1 row from the stage, soooooo intense. Amazing show, cant believe they still have this much energy, Grohl really loves what he does, and Taylor Hawkins is a pretty darn solid drummer, but the main thing that impressed me about him was the utube video of him performing YYZ to perfection.
The second was Godsmack at Saratoga. REALLY GOOD! I was always a fan of Shannon Larkin since like i was 10 years old. I thought he was insanely creative, and he still is. He also played basically every song perfectly, just like on the albums. I find that to be one of the hardest things to do live...and that ride is amazing.

[QUOTE=aydee;47280I'd be careful about volume with the kiddo.. dont get too close to the PAs[/QUOTE]
Yeah, the cool thing is, they have a little fenced off section up on the lawn just for kids. They can run around and play with their little friends while Mommy n Daddy can enjoy the show. Mind you, we kept a close eye on em, but I think its pretty damn cool for a venue to provide such a place. Its safely at a distance from the loudspeakers and its just sooo cool to watch my little man runnin around in his tie-dye shirt with all the other littl-'uns. Twas a great show by the way...

I like the lawn section up there, I found out they were playin there the night after, and same last night with Levon Helm in Lowell. When I was up there though I didn't see the little kid area.

Ha. Man is was so AWESOME! When Slayer was playing and the circle pit started up I got so scared. I had to idea what to expect. I'd seen videos with them but those are nothing compared to a real mosh pit. Then everyone ran at eachother, started pushing everyone, and since I was kinda small I kept getting pushed over and trampled. This one neo nazi guy helped me up once, some huge (and I mean HUGE) guy fell on Neo Nazi. Neo Nazi headbutt me right in the nose and my nose broke. My nose broke cleanly so there wasn't any blood
Then Lamb of God, the Wall of Death... That hurt so so so so much. I my head kept getting pounded on, I fell on the floor and someone stepped on me. The guy helped me up later. Then a big fat guy was crowd surfing and he fell off right on top of me. I hurt my hip, my back, and my ankle really bad.
Dave Lombardo was incredicle, as was Adler. It was awesome, I want to see them again but my mom won't let me after what happened...

When I saw Slipknot, I had a broken nose and I passed out in some guys bathtub, naked and heavily bruised.
My mom wasn't too happy.
I'm not aloud to drink heavily at concerts anymore.

It was either REO Speedwagon or Phil Collins' first solo tour.. Both concerts were the same month if I remember correctly (BIG if :-)) at the Cincinnati Gardens
I thought I was something cuz I scored 3 tickets for Phil Collins in the 1st row on the floor...
We were at the end of the first row, so we spent the whole show staring at speaker cabinets 4 feet in front of us.
The only thing I could see was Phil's right hand on the snare when he played (being a lefty)
It was worth every penny...

My first concert was "Men At Work" @ Reunion Arena, Dallas TX. back in the early 80's when "Down Under" was popular!
