I'm wondering the same thing. Hydraulics are pretty dead sounding heads already, so I don't know why you felt the need for the rings.

Actually they do deaden the ring from the drums. I would have put G2's on myself, but I purchased this set with brand new hydraulics. I will wait till they wear out and put G2's on the batters. The previous owner lived in an apartment and needed MAXIMUM sound deadening. She had the Hydraulics, the sound rings, AND a full set of rubber/foam pads for all drums and cymbals. Like hitting practice pad.

Actually my 10" splash is a Zildjian A and is cracked. I am searching ebay for a replacement. I love the sound of the A. Havent heard the A Custom yet.

Beautiful drums but it's a shame to see them so dampened. Get those G2s soon!
No kidding about the space constraints, either, huh?

nice i like the finish and the black batter heads makes it look even better
I have the same set just in the amber. They are great drums, and really sing with coated or clear g1s! you will be surprised when you get some new less dampening heads one it!

I have a 10" A custom and it compliments my 8" K perfectly, especially in recordings. It is brighter then the A's and a little bit drier.

Very nice. I came very close to getting the exact same kit and color a few weeks ago. I love that color it just says Gretsch. Bet you got a good deal since they are only going for $700 brand new. Why is the Gretsch logo on 12" tom behind the Mount?? Looks odd.
What are the other 2 drums near your bed.
