Hi All,
Below are pictures of my new drum kit. I ordered it November 2006 and it came in mid-April 2007. I’ve been busy playing it, etc. They sound really good, although I have not taken them out on any performances or any recordings. (I’ve used my Gretsch kit for that.)
I’ll make some records of them once I have time and post em’.
It’s a Yamaha an Absolute Birch Nouveau. The color is called “Sea Blue”.
The sizes are: (width x depth)
22 X 16 bass drum
16 X 16 floor tom
14 X 14 floor tom
12 X 9 tom
10 X 8 tom
8 X 7 tom
14 X 5.5 snare.
The photos were a little hard to take because the room that they are in is so small, but you get the idea.

I love it, kind_man. The finish is beautiful. Gotta love that virgin kick (that's rare for a Yamaha). I have the same floor tom sizes in the maple. Great craftmanship. You will get compliments on your kit everywhere you play. Congratulations.

Nice my friend, nice.
I have been looking at these myself for my next kit, do they play well? What about tuning range?

Very cool!!
Just tested one at a music store a few weeks ago...and it sounded beautiful. Even the snare drum had a nice poppy crack with enough tone and body.
Have special-ordered the sizes? Could you do that?

Hi All,
Below are the answers to the questions that were asked.
1) Yes it was a special order kit. It took about 6 months to arrive.
2) The drums sound very nice. I’m planning on recoding them sometime in January. Once done recording, I’ll post some of the recordings onto the “Your Playing” forum.

Nice Kit! I have a similar kit, Mine is also a birch custom absolute nouveau, but mine is in blue sparkle and minus the 8 inch tom, other than that, all the sizes are the same, and I got the matching snare too.

Beautiful kit there, got a Yamaha and think they are all lovely. Notice you both DW9000 base and hi-hat pedals, what is the hi-hat like? Have the base pedal and do like it but how heavy is the hi-hat stand to carry around?

Wow man, great kit. I'm sure the pictures aren't doing that finish much justice..? That's the first time (that I can remember off the top of my head) that I've seen a virgin kick from Yamaha. My cousin used to work at Yamaha Guitars in Cali, and he said it's really rare for them to not put a tom mount in the bass from the factory. You've got something special there man, take care of her.
