we had some beers at the rehearsal space and came up with this version of a tune you might know. The singer takes some PG13 liberties with lyrics, so be warned.

recorded with my brand new Zoom H4 (on board mics only!) and run through Cubase with some compression and reverb. Everyone needs to save up the money and go get an H4... it's amazing.

Check it out.

I know the guitar is too quiet, but his amp was pointed away from the Zoom, and it's not a multitrack recording... We're going to work on a little longer, more creative arrangement once we get the horn players in on it.

There will be horns on this tune eventually, thereby making it more "ska" and less "punk" as in the title...

That's pretty cool, but you're gonna need more than horns to make it ska. My advice is to have the ska upstrokes on the guitar. The offbeats of the guitar are what gave ska its name after all. Good stuff though.

actually, if you follow the roots of ska back far enough is was the horns that did the upbeats.

We're still working it out though.

Thanks for the comment.
