Hey,

This is my CNN segment that fusssion was talking about on my other thread.

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2007/11/12/news.to.me.extreme.drumming.cnn

It's a light WFD piece on a CNN Headline News show called News to Me, where they talk about the stuff you find on Internet culture. I thought it was well done, and talked about WFD in the right way. Boo McAfee and the host were pretty funny, and we let the host cheat with buzzes on his Drumometer run. That's why I was laughing.

I got called to do the interview because I only live about an hour from CNN. I told those guys about how I was really out of shape with the runs, that Tom Grosset was the hot guy now, had set the new 16 and under record and how he was now ranked higher than me, so they came up with this thing about me trying to beat the traditional grip record since I am still second in that to Mangini /they called traditional grip traditional hold/. They were saying that I was 2nd fastest in the world with traditional hold.

But you sit there in the pre interview stuff forever. So there was no warmup at all and you're laughing all the time. So needless to say I didn't have much of a run. But everybody played it up and I thought it was entertaining. Boo was happy with it too. And maybe when a network does something up north, Tom will get that one as he should.

CNN usually makes you sit through a small commercial before the segment comes on. Sorry about that.

My personal trainer mentioned this to me yesterday. It was a really good way of of introducing WFD (and Matt) to the non-drumming world.

Nice job, bro.

For some reason, some people outside North American couldn't get the video, so here it is unfiltered.

Cool! Stuff like this just makes me go harder in my musical pursuits. I get inspired by "semi-famous" people like you, Matt. Watching that video, for some odd reason, gave an immense amount of pride to be a drummer (and a member of this little forum). Don't get this wrong, but the host's messing up really showed that drumming is an art form to be taken seriously; we don't just hit stuff...we are true bona-fide artists!

Sorry, I got carried away.

...Gosh, I'm proud to be a drummer...

Since this is related, I just wanted to be able to share with everybody that there will be a big WFD comp at the Music Room in Rome, Georgia Saturday December 15. The prizes are really good and I will be there to help people with the how to do it part.

I haven't heard so much about this contest because I think the pub has been slow. So I hope folks don't mind if I SPAM this on related threads just a bit.

Besides the prizes, the main winners go to the Summer NAMM WFD in Nashville. A lot of you ask us how to get involved. Well with the low pub and great prizes and trip to the championships, this one looks perfect for somebody who wants a tuneup, or just wants to see where they stand.

The phone number for The Music Room is: (800) 241-4259

Rome Georgia is 65 miles northwest of Atlanta, and 55 miles south of Chatanooga, close to the Alabama line.
