Best head for a piccolo?

ok so i bought the Pulse steel piccolo snare. the one thats like 30 bucks on Musician's. And i personaly like it. Its got a steel shell with triple flanged 1.6 mil hoops. the head that came on it sounds aight, but the better frickin comes off onto my sticks and gets on my toms and cybals. everyone who buys it says to replace head but they never mention what head to replace with. I tried the evans g1 but it sounded worse than the original head. Can anyone please give me a suggestion? Or know what head would sound best with that drum? Thanks.

Really all you can do is experiment. Some may have said the G1, which I would have first suggested, but you don't like how it sounds. I actually usually use the Evans Power Center Reverse Dot, but again, you may not like it.

Alot of times finding heads is trial and error. Of course remember that this is a really inexpensive drum, it's only going to sound so good. You can't polish a turd as they say.

I use a Remo Fiberskyn Ambassador head on my 13" piccolo and I love it. It adds a bit of warmth while still having plenty of brightness and overtones. It looks cool too.

yea, you have to experiment..

i have a 13" piccolo and a coated Remo Ambassador on the batter side and a clear Diplomat or Ambassador Snare Side worked well for me.

you don't want something too thick because that will take away the "crack" of the sound and make the response less sensitive.
