View Full Version : Why all the Vision bashing?

Ok so its going to be a while until im shopping for my next kit, but I like to keep up with whats going on in the drum world anyway, and the vision caught my attention. As a rock drummer I like my bass and floor tom to give punchy and short blasts, so the idea of making these thicker seemed good. And a lifetime warranty on an intermediate level kit? Surely that cant be bad.
But I have seen lots of comments about how poor the series is and how it is a severe waste of money, and I was just curious to know the reasoning behind this?

I actually think Pearl did a good job with the Vision construction, but I think most people have a gripe with the 1.6mm hoops and the I.S.S mounts, where competitors like Tama and Yamaha give you their high end mount system and better hoops, especially Tama which gives you die-cast.

Maybe some just see it as a glorified Export...which is not a bad kit IMO.
I've heard some Exports that were tuned up with good heads sound great.
The Vision kits I've seen seemed pretty good. Nice colors too.
But, 1.6 hoops?
That is a little thin.
No, the I.S.S. mounts aren't as good as the Opti Mount, but the target type/level of player isn't going to be affected adversely by them.
Those can always be changed over, the OptiMount isn't that expensive per drum if the owner wanted.
I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about the Vison kit's, but I'd suspect the 'complainers' wouldn't buy that line of kit (semi-pro) anyway.
More likely higher line level kit buyers/owners just knocking it.
If I was looking into a kit with the sizes the Visions come in for a knock around town kit, I would consider them.

I totally agree, they are definitley good kits for the price, I still think they should really put 2.3mm hoops on, they aren't terribly expensive and other companies do it....Pearl just hasn't seem to catch on there.

I certainly haven't seen any Vision bashing going on here at Drummerworld. The Export, that's another matter.
