Trigger Question

Hi guys, I am sure I posted last night but cant find my post, I must of messed up. Anyway I have a question about TRIGGGGGGEERRSSS!!!

Okay firstly I have a DDrum trigger, now I need the cables, midi converter and speakers. But I dont know what to buy /help please :) Remember I am a poor student with a very small income ;)

Secondly is there anyway I can soundproof an upstairs bedroom where my kit is from the neigbours next door? Cheaply and effectively?

Any help would be great!

It sounds like maybe you are trying to put a practice kit together?

You need a mono 1/4 cable and some kind of a e-drum brain, they are all over ebay


Any of the Roland, Yamaha or Alesis brains will work, the more you spend the more bells and whistles you get. You can always start out with something and upgrade later.

Depends on what model trigger you have.
if it's a Redshot, yes- a normal 1/4 cable will suffice.
If it's their Pro model you'll need a special cable, with 1/4 on one end and XLR (mic) on the other.

then you need a module, yes. Midi probably isn't going to be that big of a concern.
Most people these days are trigger their bass with Alesis modules; they're cheap and not too complicated (and they're all over ebay)

You can't just send the output of the module to speakers though. You will need to amplify it. So you'll need either a full-range amp or PA setup. Or headphones, if no one else needs to hear it.

There are 2 of those modules on ebay I can find in the UK. That is if I am looking at the correct ones.

Can you send me some links of these cheap modules either ebay or normal sites? A percific brand name or something.

Also I have the redshot trigger so it goes something like this...

Redshot DDrum Trigger > mono 1/4 > Module > Some wire??? (help) > amp or headphones

Depends on your definition of cheap. Under $100? Or under $1000? If you share a common wall with the neighbors, an e-kit is gonna be the best approach, played thru headphones. And even then, the steady taptaptap of sticks on rubber pads "might" annoy them. So you may want to research further "to what degree" your neighbor's are pissed.
