i have to remvoe the tome mount from my bass drum to fit on a drum frame, does anyone know what, if any, special precautions need to be taken? will it be ok if i just take it off and leave it be or do i have to get some sort of cover for the hole? thanks
i don't think there should be a problem. Just take one of the heads off, then grab a screw driver and take it off. You might want to get some sort of plate to cover it or something, and be careful when unscrewing it. If it is a cheaper kit the screws might take some of the shell with it, the same could happen with a high end kit to so just unscrew slowly and don't try and force anything off if it doesn't want to come off.

If you happen to play Pearl, you're in luck; they make a cover plate just for this purpose.
