Hey guys

i got my wuhan s series cymbals

im fairly happy with them

loving the hi hats and the crash but the ride i really like alot

just doesnt have the bell i want.. doesnt have the UMPH to drive the music

i still like it though

i was thinking maybe a k custom ride or maybe a paiste alpha ride

what do you guys think?

i think its finally awsome i can focus on individual sounds now than before.

the wuhans are really nice.. cant go wrong with them

but the ride just doesnt have the bell i need

any suggestions?

Pretty sure there is a big price difference between a custom K and a Paiste Alpha.

I also need a new ride (currently sabian B8 Yuck) and I have narrowed it down to a Zildjian K, I played on one the other day and it was awesome. It did not say anything else on it Just K 20". I liked it better than the K custom and it was about $100 cheaper too, I also really like the Armand "21.

I have played around with quite a few rides recently and to me the Zildjians are the closest thing to my flavor. All my other cymbals are Paiste 2002's but I may even start selling them to get some K or A crashes.

Just make sure you try out whatever you buy in person before purchasing it.

I'm going to throw it out that you should go jump on cymbalsonly.com and listen to some Bosphorus Traditional series rides, preferably the heavier ones if you want more definition. I chose my 20" heavy over Ks, K Customs, HHXs, and Paiste Sigs. Plus it was a hell of a lot cheaper... I got hats, a crash, and a ride on sale for a little less than the sticker price of some K hats.... (I think I got about $350AUD off all up).

I would also suggest the Masterwork Cymbals on www.cymbalfusion.com
the site may be down for the moment or under repair, but they are great turkish
cymbals for great prices.
Also you may find some great prices at www.cymbalcellar.com used cymbals.

Try the Paiste traditionals medium ride or the medium light ride, if there's a music shop nearby have a butcher's there. I'm in the process of buying most likely the medium ride, also the Istanbul Agop 20" medium ride is great sounding, but not sure if it will cut enough compared to the sound you liked of the 20" K ride.

check out cymbalcellar, or saluda

From the ones you have suggested I am guessing you want a ride that can be crashed, and have wash to it with a powerful bell. You may want to check out the dream contact series I have a 22'' that is very much like the Ks of the old days, and its bell is killer!

If you want a drier ride the sabian RBDR has a bell that can drive any band and ping that cuts, but it can not really be crashed...

I totally agree I have this ride and it's great, nice ping with a little amount of wash, ear piercing bell, BUT it crashes terribly, it's sound like a gong full of overtones when it's crashed. Unless you find the lightest RBDR you can find.
