Dont go for a particular brand or line!

If you want sabians, how do you know that Paragons are going to be the best Sabians for you?
If you want Paiste's, how do you know that 2002's are going to be the best Paistes for you?

For that matter, how do you know that Sabian or Paiste is even the right choice for you?

Youre talking big money for the cymbals youre after, so slow it down, take a breath and start finding about about what cymbals are on offer. Then go try many. Sabian make great cymbals, as do Paiste, as do Zildjian, UFiP, Meinl, Bosphorus, Istanbul, etc etc.

Right on, Damo. Please, please ... go by the cymbal sounds you like and not worry about a brand range, unless you are a pro and that brand is offering you lots of money, or free cymbals.

Go to a good store, pick up random cymbals you like, ask the man to set them up on stands and try them out. simple.

I agree, that's why they have them on display. You never know, you might find your favorite cymbal to be something you've never heard of... and if you're worried about what the logo is, get yourself a sharpie and come up with your own designs hehe

I walked into a store intending to buy a few Sabian HHX cymbals, but do you know what I walked out with?...

Bosphorus Traditionals.

Hear the cymbals in person before you make too many judgements.

As for me, I'm converted to the hand-made Turkish cymbal thing; all I play is Bosphorus.

Whenever anyone asks an opinion about the 2oo2s compared to most other lines, I would always pick the 2oo2s. To me, they just sound better overall heard in the mix than most other brands. They're more versatile than many give them credit for as well. Just my humble opinion. Some 2oo2s sound mediocre when heard by themselves, but really sound awesome when played with other instruments.

If you've played Paragon's and 2oo2's then choose the best cymbal (for you) from each cymbal line. Let's say you really like the sound of the Paragon Ride but you're liking more the 2oo2's hi-hats.

Pick your favourite.
