Help!!

Hey ......
Does anyone know about the old Imperialstars,.... T.Underwood??

When did they, or didn't they have those tone controls? I think the earlier models had them, but later in the 80's they went away. Help me here?

Also, ...wasn't the zola-coat Swingstars of the 80's the same Imperialstar shell?

Thanks all !!!!!!

Hmm, good questions. I don't recall seeing any concert tom Imperialstars with the mufflers on them but they made that line for a good number of years so... The bigger power toms like mine don't seem to have them either. I've looked at buying shallower toms of the same era, color, etc. and they have the mufflers. What year had them I cannot say. Man that Tama forum has some great sets, I can't believe I've never browsed around there before for all my Tama needs!

Signals, thanks!!
WOW,...never thought of that......that's huge!!

T.Underhill,
Funny, because this Imperialstar I'm looking at is standard sized toms withOUT the mufflers, ...so I think it's an "era" thing. Meaning.....the earlier toms had them,...the later toms didn't..........

Thanks though!

I had a white satin Imperial Star kit that had the mufflers, but I'm pretty shure they had to be ordered that way....it was an option.
I also had a set of the old Superstars, and the mufflers were standard equipment on them, being that i was the flagship line at the time.

I will get back to you on the Swinstar shells....

Whao?? Superstars w/ mufflers....I didn't know that......

I just went to that site that Signals referred me to....I did find that the Royalstar, Imperialstar and Swingstar shells were all the same........but whatever you find, I'd be more than happy to see it!

Thanks......

NOT poplar........mahogany........

But not African mahoany..Phillipine which is much softer than the African.
The Swingstar shells seemed to be what ever they had on hand...no specific "Swingstar" shell.

The old superstars were birch or maple, depending on production run, and were very, very nice drums and still sound great today if you have them re-edged.
