Getting new brushes

I have a pair of Regal Tip 593C Brushes (the Clayton Cameron Sig. with the nylon Butt), and I've noticed that they're starting to leave what looks like pencil lead residue on my drumhead, as well as my hands when I touch them. I've had them for quite a while, and the tube they came in has long since been crushed; a few wire strands have been bent by everyday use and road wear, so I was thinking of getting retractable ones. Ive searched a little, and am thinking of the Regal Tip throwbrushes. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance guys (and gals)...

Sorry for the late response, but I just now saw your post. If you haven't yet gotten new brushes ,I suggest Vic Firth jazz brushes. Good spread , nice and firm , they hold at about any position you want and sound great on the drums.
Personal opinion - best brushes I've ever tried.

I just got the jeff hamilton regal tip brushes. They have basically three built in stop points so you can vary the spread. I like to use brushes fairly closed up rather than multi-rods and these seem to work well. The wires are a bit stiffer too so I find it a bit easier to do rolls!

I've got a pair of Promark tb3 and VF Jazz. The TB3s are too light for me and the Jazz ones are too heavy. I'm not a fan of the plastic handle the Vic Firth ones have either and the bristles are a bit too stiff. I'm going to try Promark TB5s next. I have played with a pair of Regal Tip retractable brushes but the rubber handle smelled so bad. It was whatever they coated the rubber in or something. I don't know if all of them are like that or not.

I like the Vic Firth Hertage brushes myself.
