Hello all....

yes yet again da cheese is looking for his dream snare....

ok....got my black panther cherrywood maple 12x6....its great,,,,its my main snare...but now im wondering....

about walnut...Ive been hearing a lot about walnut and how good it sounds....has anyone here got a walnut snare?tried it?

also...my current BP is 6 inches deep....how would a shallower snare work?now not a piccolo....say a 5" or 4.5 or something?would it be more sensitive...?

i would still be looking for a 12", as i love the sounds you can get out of one, and the size everything, suits what i do....is there any companies?BP maybe who manufacture a 5 or so deep by 12" wide snare?wood?

maybe im not very good at this but responses would be helpful!haha!

thanks

Ive tried the walnut once, it was fantastic. It was also one of the most beautiful snares i have ever played. Definitley compare it to different ones, its quite expensive, but well worth it.

If you're looking for a true DREAM snare... You really need to talk to Francois (aka: Unix) He built me a BEAUTIFUL birds eye maple 13 x 7 that gets compliments everywhere it goes. I just sold a Walnut drum for him and the new owner is going to absolutely love it when it shows up for sure.

Staves are awesome because they really bring out the tone of the wood... anything else is just going to be maple with a veneer essentially. I know I'm never selling this maple one, it's a true hand built work of art.

thanks man for your sharpish reply!!

im considering prices etc. to see what happens....

but im just curious how a shallow walnut snare would sound....how does the thickness influence the sound?and how does the depth influence the sound too??

sorry for all my questions!
