Hi i wanted to get some feed back about this snare drum thats on Trade me (The New Zealand Equivalent to e bay) Money wise it seems to be a pretty good deal (consider the exchange when commenting on this). but would the snare be very effected by the new rims throw off and tension rods?I have heard the super sensitive throw offs were a night mare anyway?

It looks like it is great shape, I have a Supraphonic and I love it. you an get a p85 strainer for $20.00 US on the web.
I am not sure about the exchange rate but 250.00 US for that drum in that shape is a very fair price.

Then that is a great deal, and trust me, you will love the sound. They are awesome drums. Take a look at 80% of the metal snares out there, they are Supraphonic copies ;-)

I just had a close look at the photo looks like its got a lot of pitting (take a real hard look) will this effect the sound ? and is it possible to restore should really be a different thread i know .

no, it will not effect the sound and yes it can be restored, Take a look at mine, it is in the middle of the Ludwigs, it was pitted all over the place I had it re-chromed. To me it was worth it for two reasons, it was my first snare and it is a mid 60s so it is fairly desirable. I It really depends on the cost and what it is worth to you to have an older snare, that snare is made today although the older ones are more desirable I am sure a brand new one sounds great too. They are on eBay in the US all the time.
Here is a link to check out for new ones, I would imaging you can get the same deal there.

What is picturesd is a "Keystone" badge Supraphonic. It is missing the internal muffler which would be a the baseball bat type lever and the muffler would be rectangular in shape.
I am not certain about the Pearl throw-off being a direct "bolt-on" replacement so there might be some modification of the shell to make it fit; you may want to ask as any modification of an otherwise factory drum causes the value to go down rather quickly.
