I just bought a DW throne with the motorcycle type seat (wide load). I also have a Pacific throne that is no more than two years old.
They both use a threaded shaft that locks in place with a collar that is adjustable for height. I just can't seem to be able to get either one of these thrones to not wobble around. The collars seem to work themselves loose and have to be readjusted. I thought there may have been something wrong with the Pacific but the DW does the same damn thing.
Anyone know what I'm talking about or had similar experiences?

I haven't owned a DW throne before, but I have owned many different thrones. I have noticed the threads on the male throne shaft do not fit very tightly into the female receiver, even on a brand new seat. I think this is probably because a little wobble and play preserves the life of the mechanism in other ways, given the stress of someone moving up and down and back and forth on it.
I use a Roc-N-Soc Nitro and it doesn't have any threads, just a telescopic shaft (like an office chair on steroids). So the "wobble" has been incorporated into the shock absorber.

My Yamaha sometimes has the same problem. I just think it's due to the nature of the throne having a bit of play as DMC said and that coupled with the movement of your body on the throne works the collar loose. I just deal with it.

I had one of those DW thrones for about three songs and sold it on ebay.
The 9000 air lifts are super stable and very comfortable. The down side is the seat doesn't come off so it won't fit into a trap case.

I may be Ebaying this thing...I've been on bar stools that are more stable.

I didn't have a wobble problem but the seat top was harder than a rock!
