I'm looking for a crash thats dark, low pitched and moderately dry and trashy. So far I'm like the Sabian 19" HHXtreme and 19" Fierce Sabian cymbals but I was wondering what cymbals like this Zildjian, Paiste and Meinl put out. Any advice would be great!
Thanks
Andrew

The darkest dry and trashy crash i've heard to date Andrew was a green label 18" Agop Signature Series crash. The couple I tested were relatively light weight 18" cymbals and warm sounding and very responsive well keeping a complex and dark character and full crash.

You can hear some soundfile samples of them here:

Check out the Bosphorus traditional and antique series.

I also second the Z. special dry crashes. Great cymbals.

Meinl Byzance thin crashes are fairly explosive and a bit trashy. You should check out the crashes from the Byzance Dark, Jazz and Extra dry ranges.
