Pretty cool.
A mix between maple and walnut...sounds dark and warm?
I just know that walnuts are very delicious but have never tried a walnut snare drum yet.
The price also seems to be alright!
Are you interessted in that?

I`m looking forward to it! Always looking forward to clips of your playing. And to that snare drum, I`m sure I`ll get a rough hint!
How have you tuned it btw? How is its pop?
You know, sometimes snare drums don`t give an even pop when playing it calm...rather it seems like a "puking" kind of sound.

ha, I think I can imagine what you mean!
I guess they put on a standard coated one-ply head as batter as well as on the reso side?
Sorry but I forgot to ask about its ring.... ;-)
Though lately I experienced how beautiful metal snare drums like bronze or brass can sound.

ahh yeahh, its a standard ambassador coated with the mapex black pantehr logo on it....
reso is clear ambassador 1 ply
the overtones...its niiice, cos every other snare i've had, its had really crappy overtones, which really annoy you...
however this snare its got a pretty sweet ring to it...it compliments the drum.... theres not tooo much ring....and not too little....its just right for me...
at the moment, this snare is soundign wayy better than my 14x8 DW Edge !!

Hey guys, just thought I add that I picked one up a couple of weeks ago and I love it. I agree with everything Karl had to say.
I'd been looking for a black panther, for the money they sound great and feel good to play. I play in a couple of metal band and a jazz funk thing, and it's fantastic for both; I really think I was lucky to pick it up for £159.
Karl mentioned that he likes the rimshots, I agree but personally I've found I prefer a sharp stroke dead in the centre for most 2 and 4 grooves. There's a lot of sounds in it ^^
