Does anyone have any experience using Taye's new XP1 bass drum pedal, either single or double bass? This is the pedal that won "best in show" at NAMM this year.

I was thinking of getting a double-bass pedal (I usually use a single DW 5000 or Tama Iron Cobra flexi-glide) and am curious about Taye's pedal. I know DW's 9000 model is supposed to be great, but it is way too expensive.

Thanks for any feedback.

We've had some of the singles in and out (and have a few in stock). I prefer this to pretty much every "new to me" pedal out there. I actually play on a basic Taye PSK601C or whatever the 600 series single model is, so I am very used to that. But putting the XP1 up against anything from DW, Pearl, Tama, etc, I think Taye wins, especially if price is a factor for you

^ What he said. 100%. I just got mine yesterday. Great pedal. I'm anxious to see the new Metalworks stuff coming out.....

How much do both of you charge for Taye's XP1 pedal, in double bass format? Andy mentioned that Taye is cheaper than DW and Tama and Pearl, but I looked up one store and Tama's Iron Cobra double bass rolling glide and power glide pedals are $299, while Taye's XP1 double bass is $417!!! Ouch!

Maybe Andy (whoever he is) should call a few stores. West Coast Drum http://www.westcoastdrums.com/taye6.html

Andy is a great guy and is well respected here. I'm pretty sure his prices are very similiar to ours. The Taye XP1 is less expensive than a DW9000 pedal and just as nice.

I just ordered one to go with my TAYE set from Shane at Justdrumsonline.com. I will give it a 240 pound workout and let you know. Down from 275 two months ago by the way.

Edit: if you really want to see how its made go here:
