Any recommendations for good, durable starter/intermediate cymbals? I'm buying a tama rockstar or superstar and cymbals.

Your best option is to buy high end cymbals that are used. Check Ebay, CraigsList.com and your local store. There are many great starter cymbals, but you will upgrade those relatively quickly and waste your money.

If you're just starting out and not sure if you're going to stick with drumming, I'd say just grab some cheap cymbals on ebay. Companies like Stagg and Wuhan make good cymbals sometimes and they're relatively cheap on ebay.

If you think you're going to continue drumming, look at getting professional quality cymbals used, like fourstringdrums and maddrummr said. Saluda (http://www.saludacymbals.com) makes excellent custom cymbals at a price that's much less than the big 3's (Zildjian, Sabian, Paiste ) professional lines. (Actual prices can be found at Drum Gear Online (http://www.drumgearonline.com)) They also sell a number of their cymbals on ebay under the name drumgearonline.

What kind of music do you play? Do you have any cymbals or particular cymbal sounds in mind?

This site has many new and older cymbals at some truly great prices IMO. I agree with others that you should not waste your money on brand new starter/intermediate cymbals especially after you see some of great prices you can get some good used old top end stuff on this site:

Not really at the moment... I need to go to guitar center and just hit some cymbals. =)
