Back in the days, when I was young & stupid ( things havent changed that much since ), I tried to mute my Zildijian New Beat hi-hats with scotch tape since I was living in a small apartment.
I played other hat cymbals since then, but when I pulled these plates out again, the tape has fused with the bronze...like its engraved on it. I've tried all kinds of cymbal cleaners, nothing seems to work. there is also nothing to scrape off. Its there but not there.
Any remedies?
