I have just finished the lonnggg freaking process of making a stave drum, though i must admit, its quite rewarding. Now I need to hear what it sounds like, any suggestions on heads for it? I want it to have that "popcorn" sound. Its 10"x 6" and is 3/4" maple. Im pairing it up with puresound 16 strand snare wires.

Whoa, whoa, whooooaaaaaa. You made a stave drum? Did you actually cut and glue the staves, or did you buy a shell and are finishing it? Pictures and specs!
Unix and Crazyhorse should be able to help you in head selection.

Yepp, cut and glued staves, with help from drumshed.com and ghostnote. I used 12 staves, 15 degree bevels, wood glue, and many profane words. Its gonna have black chrome ego maniac lugs, chrome tension screws, black chrome hoops, chrome trick strainer, and puresounds, when they finnaly arrive ( been a week :( ) I figured if I put all of this effort into it I might as well put decent hardware on it. Picture avaliability depends on if my digital cam feels like being ignorant or not.

I would say StudioX or Emperor. Just my opinion.

I'd put a Remo Coated Ambassador, or any other 1ply coated head, to really bring out the tone, imho thick heads on a snare drum that small won't work as good and dampen that awsome potential soundwise!
