This will probably get overlooked since they aren't that popular but I think Dead to Fall has some great metal drumming on their latest album, The Phoenix Throne.

Their drummer is Tim Java.

I like that he doesn't just focus on speed and constant double kickbass. For a sample, check their myspace (http://www.myspace.com/deadtofall). He drums on the first two songs, Smoke and Mirrors (a good example of his style, make sure to listen until the good part around :45) and All My Hereos Have Failed Me.

very catchy drumming and it doesn't distract from the music. he seems like a musically minded drummer. going to see them next month.

new Dead to Fall album is coming out soon... should be a good show with lots of new material you'll be seeing.

DTF has been posting studio updates and one of them centered on the drum setup and has a lot of drum geek talk and a lot of details on Tim's setup:

hope you got to see them isaacore. They broke up about a week before coming to my area... doh.
