Don't know if this was ever posted before , but I thought it was very interesting to see how sticks are made from raw wood.

I wonder what they do with all the leftover wood and defective sticks. Make a giant bonfire perhaps....mmmm...marshmallows on a nice pair of Xtreme 5As for more reach.

The defective sticks they paint and relabel as NOVAs. The leftover wood? Probobly sell to other stick companies.

Possibly, I know for sure that the NOVAs are Vic Firth rejects... maybe Zildjians are Vater or Promark rejects... you never know. You do get what you pay for.

They grind it up, mix it with glue, and make Remo drum sets with it.

Jeff Hamilton and Louie Bellson have Remo kits and those are just the ones I can name right now. I have seen a decline in VF durability though. I had a pair of 5As last around 8 years but a new pair seems to be worn out after a few months. In high school marching band, the VF Tom Aungst sticks would last a few games and a competition and break. The Promark pair (Moore I think..) lasted 2 years and developed a crack that changed the sound. The IP pairs would last a month or so. I bought a pair of Vater sticks--the Super Jazz-- but they are kinda heavy. VERY durable, but they don't offer any smaller sticks, most of their stuff is huge. I'll be going Promark or Regal Tip for a while certainly.

Now if VF could only figure out how to keep their tips from chipping in 5 minutes.
