Yes, great fun. If you get a mini one you can put it down your trousers, stick it through your flies and use it to much hilarity.

Hehe oh wow!! I have been having a look at analog ones! Apartently you can play them from uip to 3 feet away. Might get one and stick it to the drum kit :D

My old guitar player has one, it was hilarious when he used it with his kid's toy keyboard. A lot of fun; now I might have to get one...

Im a big fan of Jean Michel Jarre! The first time I watched his DVD 'Live In Gdansk', I was amazed by it! They sound loads of fun!

I spent some time not long ago watching basically everything on YouTube about theremins. They look really fun to mess around with, just really hard to master. If I had one right now I would learn to play the riff from "In Da Gadda Da Vida" and be done with it.

Bernt-nernt, bernnernerner, baaabaaabaaa nubernt... I can play it on the piano and it's only like 6 different notes so I guess it wouldn't be so hard to figure out.

Anyone know how much the smaller analog ones go for (USD)?

I am just addicted to musical gadgets, Laser Harps (as used in Rendez-Vous), theremins (used in Oxygene), those strange D-beams that are now used on Roland Synthesizers! I have recently been using my drum kit with guitar effects! Mainly flange/chorus/auto-pan!

Theremins are great fun. I have a 'photo-theremin', which uses a light sensor instead of a rod. I think the rod ones are the best though. Sci-fi soundtrack at your disposal.

The Theremin is a very temperamental beast. It seems to know it's special, being the only instrument you don't actually touch to play... requires clearance of at least a couple feet to avoid interference, I find. Pretty nifty gadget though. Kind of like a fretless keyboard sort of thing. Takes a lot of work to get the feel for playing melodically since there really are no pitch references to work with. Very tough to master

It looks like a really cool instrument. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to get really good though.

Check out thereminworld.com. Some serious music has been written for them since their invention around 1919. This is the instrument that got Bob Moog started.
