Self explanatory question, how do you fit a double bass pedal to the hi-hat. I have a few questions though, does the hi hat have to be stationary with a double pedal - therefore you can't open and close it? Is the only way of getting round this to have two hi-hats? Or to have a bottom hi-hat clamped, but I don't know if that is possible. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks

The best suggestion I have is to switch your hi-hat stand out with a 3 leg rotation hi-hat stand or get a 2 leg stand.
and I don't get what else you mean but I belive ur talking about a clutch or another pair of hats to be closed somewhat.- the answer to that would be to just buy a hi-hat arm to go off a stand without a pedal or get a clutch.

I picked up a Gibraltar Drop Clutch for $9.99 at musician's friend. Great stuff for double bass patterns.

If you're worried that you can't operate the hi-hat pedal while playing double bass, don't worry so much. Most drummers switch between hi-hat pedal and bass drum pedal with their left foot. It's not typical for the left foot to control the hi-hat pedal AND the remote bass drum pedal at the exact same time, but to just switch off instead. So it sounds like you're worried about the hi-hat being open when you play double bass because your left foot can't operate both pedals, but like Mr. Pasquini said, there are devices made for that problem. A drop clutch is a hi-hat clutch with a small lever attatched that, when you hit it with a drumstick, will close the hi-hats together, freeing your feet for double bass playing. The hi-hats can be reopened by depressing the pedal.
As far as positioning goes, like ultimatedrummer said, you can get a hi-hat stand that fits in better next to another pedal.
Hope that this helps, if you have any more questions, ask away.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. Opening the hi hat when riding is a big thing for me I like to do it. I probably wouldn't want to open the hi hat with my foot whilst playing double bass, just while riding on a single kick. Would this be possible with the clutch? I play a mixture of hats down and open while grooving so I guess would my only option with the double pedal would be to have a clutch or two hi hats - one open, one closed?
Thanks a lot guys

Adding a "drop clutch" would certainly be the first sep, and most cost effective. Drop the hat if you want to ride it closed, leave it open if you want that slushy open hat effect.
