i have a big problem killing the tips of my sticks really quickly. nylon tips just shatter(sometimes within a few songs), and wood tips slowly chip away until there's basically no tip at all, and then they break...

any suggestions as to sticks that i won't have this problem with, or at least not as bad?

and i use really big sticks for a set drummer(L = 17", Dia. = .695"), so keep that in mind...

Sticks are supposed to be expendable. Just buy new ones.

yeah, but i'm poor, so i'd like my sticks to last as long as possible!

breaking within a few songs = hitting them to hard

drums are loud, hit them slightly lighter and you might notice a big difference. a pair of wood drum sticks should last you 1-2 weeks with one hour a day practice.
