I have a question I have just been wanting to ask, what is the average weight of a drumset, fully set up and of the individual drums? Don't know if this has been asked before or not.

Mostly it depends on the material that the drumset is made of.

I have an older set of DW's and I have found them to be much lighter than a couple of other sets I have played (Pearl Export, Gretsch). I gigged with an old Gretsch kit while my DW's were being repaired in the same tom/kick sizes and they were probably twice as heavy as my DW's.

When mine were shipped, bass, two toms, floor tom, snare drum, hihat, two stands, and a pedal it was listed as 103 pounds.

I would presume a set made entirely of stainless steel is heavy as a boat anchor.

Or do they weigh pretty light as well?

A Ludwig stainless kit...a boat anchor...hmmm. Depends on the size of the kit. And the size of the anchor. Carl Palmer's "Brain Salad Surgery" tour kit (stainless steel) certainly weighted more than John Bonham's stainless Ludwig kit. And hardware, hardware could triple the weigth of a kit. And again, there are 10 lb. stands and 30 lb. stands.

It depends on the kind of wood and how thick your shell is...

I think my pacific was shipped in at 80lbs but that was before my 16inch floor.

But they are pretty light drums when i'm moving them from place to place on occasion.

My drums (heads, hoops RIMS mounts) come in at around 90 pounds, and my set is not particularly large. It's made of sold shell, half-inch-thick ironwood and has a specific gravity of 1.2 - in other words, it's heavier than water. By comparison maple ply shell has a specific gravity of about .40 and is much thinner. These drums weigh as much as large drums and sound like large drums, but they're fairly petite. Still, it's like moving furniture.

ok, i'll bite: a lot more loading out at the end of the gig, than what it weighed loading in at the beginning of the gig...

seriously, a typical, entry-level-ish 5pc drumset with a basic 5pc hardware package with no cymbals, will be in the area of 110lbs, give or take. a lot of snare drums seem to fall between 9 and 12lbs, though there will be wider variants if you start to include esoteric or exotic materials.

Depending on the kind of stands you use, the stands (all combined) weigh about as much as the drums (if not more).

Somewhere around 750 lbs. Good thing I don't have to move it all in one shot (usually).
