So i was looking through my local drum shops catalog when i saw a sale on a 6"x13" Black panther birds eye maple snare for $139.99 ($499.99 list) and a 7"x12" for $129.99 ($499.99 list)!! I can only get one though... :(
I already have a 5.5"x14" Tama Starclassic Brass snare, and i was thinking it would be good to have a wood snare too.
I just want to know what you guys think of either one.
I'm going in to check both of them out tomorrow btw.

I would go with the 7"x13" because the 7"x12" it will be more like a side snare. But if a side snare is what you're looking for then go with the 7"x12"

that's what I was going to say, if you use your starclassic snare as your main snare, grab the 12 inch. if not, go the other way around.

I prefer the Walnut snares that are 5.5" deep! You can get them in 10", 12" and 14" diametres! Better finish but you still get the controlled sound!

I'll second that. Depends on what you want from the snare. Great deal either way though.

Are you running this new snare with the Tama or are you going to switch out between wood and brass? I think that's the big question.
