I love pictures of people really goin' for it on the drums. what style of music do you play? Nice drums as well, really nice sizes and great cymbals. What's the drum rack like?

We play metal/hardcore type stuff. The band is Loss Of Reason myspace.com/lossofreason
I tend to go kind of nuts when I play, thats part of what makes it fun. The drum rack I love for the most part. Getting a good case for a rack is really hard. XL speciality makes a pretty good one, I think I am going to get one of those. But its nice to have everything pre set up backstage on the rack so when its time for us to go on I only have a couple of things I need to bring out. Also it helps keep my set up the same every night.

Cymbals are as I said all Sabian (maybe one day these guys will put me on their artist roster!) But the normal set up is as follows : (from stage right to left)

AA Metal-X 14in Hi Hats (sometimes AAX 14in Stage hats)
HHX Evolution 18in O-Zone (now cracked, looking at replacing with the ever cheesy ROCKTAGON)
AAX 20in China
Vault 18in Crash
Vault 17in Crash (17 has a very cool "punchy" tone)
Paragon 19in China (by far my all time fav china)
AA Metal-X 19in Crash (I use this as a "crash/ride" this poor cymbal takes most of the abuse)
AAX Metal 22in Ride
In the top to pix I have a 18in AAX Dark and 18in Paragon because I broke the Vaults. But I will be going back to the Vaults!

I am working on jazz. The great thing about the drums is they sound good no matter what I am playing. Foo Fighters to hardcore to metal to jazz to whatever. I got these drums in March or May of last year. I have had them on the road a few times and in the studio and they impress me every time.

Dude I love your cymbal setup... it's a shame that you crack any of those, but really, I love Sabian cymbals. I've been looking into the 20" Vault Crash.

Yeah the Vaults are great. I like the 20in crash but if I had that I would want to use it as my "crash/ride" and I know it just won't hold up. The only cymbal that lasts longer than 8 or so months is the 19in metal X. Its also bright as hell too so it cuts through. I might try a 20in metal x next time around. Take a peek at the 17in Vault. Something about it really hits my ears right.

Whos that?
You should look in to them. Hell even if they won't give you free drums or anything they are just amazing sounding. Worth every penny. I got my kit before any endorsment was worked out, so I paid a ton for the drums. I would do it again too.

I have seen a few really cool trick kits lately, most notably yours, another on here, and the Modern Drummer kit of the month.

I am impressed.

Very impressed.

Well thank you for the kind words. My main gig is starting to get back in to shape and we hope to be doing at least week end trips and hopefully some small touring again, so I will be making sure to let all you folks know when I will be in your town so you can hear how they sound.

Considering you're into metal/hardcore it's surprising you don't use a double pedal. Is it just not featured in the pics?

sXeDanimalsXe
09-11-2007, 01:56 AM
I use a double pedal. I just didn't have it in the pic. I have axis pedals right now, but I think I am going to get the Trick pedals.
As far as heads I use clear Remo Ambassador on the bottoms and clear Emperor on the batter heads. Power stroke 3 on the kick front and back. Emperor X on the 7x14 trick snare
normal emperor on my 6x14 copper trick snare.
and p.s. I am starting to try jazz. But its hard.

I'm glad you cleared up the confusion regarding the type of music you play . You had me fooled. From the photos I was thinking you were in a lounge act doing Barbara Streisand covers. ;)

Awesome drums bro. Diggin' the finish and the snare!

Peace.

Do you have a trick pedal on that kit?

sXeDanimalsXe
09-11-2007, 03:35 AM
I do not have the pedals yet. I am thinking about it. Its a lot of money and I like the feel, but I have the Axis pedals now and I am thinking I kind of maybe want to some day maybe just thinking about going back to a chain pedal. But who knows what I will end up with.
