View Full Version : SJC Custom Drum Choices

so i have been looking around at a lot of custom drum company's and i've near given up. but sjc put together a kit builder. so i tried three kits and i need opinion.
my first is a good looking kit.
specs:
24x20" Bass
13x8" Tom
16x14" Floor Tom
18x15" Floor Tom
14x7" Snare
with a stripe finish. purple sparkle/silver sparkle/purple sparkle and white powder coated hardware on 50% offset tube lugs. on the bass is a sheild logo in puprle sparkle finish. remo heads. the snare is a "hybird" snare. wood/acrylic/wood. with sliver sparkle/puprle/silver sparkle with purple powder coated tube lugs. gauger mounts.
total=$4,150

basic kit:
22x18" Bass
12x7" Tom
16x14" Floor
14x7" Snare
black/gold sparkle wrapped finish. brass offset tube lugs. on the bass is a victorian shield logo. it looks like a vine if you didn't know. the snare is again a hybrid. b/g sparkle/black/b/g sparkle. remo heads, gauger mounts.
total=$3,195

Travis Barker Kit:
22x22" Bass
10x6" Tom
16x14" Floor Tom
14x7" Snare
amber acrylic. brass offset tube lugs. on the bass is a simple oval logo in black finish and two black 6" HOLZ. the snare is a hybrid. remo heads, gauger mounts.
total=$3,400

so what's you guyses opinion. i'm really indesive at the moment, i need help. please, boxcar

personally, i would go with the first one. mainly because i like big kicks. but what is with the floor tom sizes? ive never played a SJC, but i plan on having one in the future...so good luck!

thanks for the comment. the floor sizes are 16x14" and 18x15" on the other two kits, they're both 16x14" but i'll most likely go with the first one. despite the price. i played one at namm and man was it awesome. it was actualy the butcher of The Academy Is.. man was that nice. but i really like this first one. but i'd love to have all three-boxcar

Personally out of those three choices I prefer the second.
By the way, do you know how accurate the prices that kit builder quotes you are? Cause I just went through the process and ended up with a surprisingly low quote, although it is just a preliminary estimate. I would hope they aren't trying to lure people in with low quotes and then ending up with a much higher final cost. But with the benefit of the doubt, I'm much more impressed by their pricing than I was.

I love big kicks... so I would pic the first one. Or get the second one and get a bigger kick. Good luck with it. They will look great!
