Question re: my new Yammy Maple Custom Absolute

Hello drummaz,

I need some help! Just received my new kit, and was wondering about something with my bass drum. In general are all the lugs supposed to feel like they have the same tension? I have some lugs that are barely tight at all. Does this mean that I have a warped hoop or something?

On a brand new drum, I would expect the lug tensions to be pretty similar. The torque required to turn the key is of no consequence to tuning, so I wouldn't worry about it, either.

The main thing you should be concerned about is if the head is the same pitch all the way around. Just because a drum comes "tuned" doesn't necessarily mean someone spent a half of an hour tuning up your kit before they shipped is (it may, but I really don't know) and even so, it may not hold it's tuning in transit.

I doubt your hoops are warped. It would probably be a good Idea to retune all your drums to the way you want them.
