Chad Smith sg snare problem!

What are the best heads for the cs snare?
The snare came with a coated ambassador. I tuned the snare a bit higher and than i had too much ring. After i put some moongel on the head and it sounded ok, but i was not impressed.
Now i put emperor x on the snare and when i want to do double strokes it feels like i get no rebound, but when i tighten the head the drum sounds a bit too high.
Please help!

The Chad Smith is on the 'higher side' of the tone range in any case. What I do is to tune the reso pretty damn tight, and keep the batter in a slightly lower range. This eliminates that high pitched ringiness. No moongel, stock heads.

The ones that came with the snare. Coated Ambassador ( batter) Clear Ambassador ( snareside)
