My awesome day! (featuring my new toy)

ok, so lets get started with why yesterday was so awesome,

i got up at 6:30 in the morning to catch the train to toronto with my friend, we were going to go to the big autograph session dream theater was having at the HMV

we got there at 8:30 and there was already a lineup, my old keyboardist was there so we got to hang out with him... we waited in line till 12:30 when we got wristbands, then at 1 they opened the doors

unfortunately it was a very limited meet and greet, just sign, make some small talk and leave, we weren't supposed to have our pics taken with them or anything, but mike portnoy is a class act, he let me get a quick pic in!

after the signing and before the show, we made the trek to "steve's music" which is an awesome store downtown, i saw this pearl quarter tom on sale for 84 bucks, i had to get it, its only one but i would like to see how i use it and stuff before i consider a set of them

it was limit one autograph from the whole band per person, i thought I'd rather have a cd signed by the whole band than a skin by just portnoy

I got a roto from steves for like, 40$, 6" came with mounts and everything, it's a pretty rockin' store.

The TO show was great, wasn't a huge fan of the open acts but sure enough, DT blew them out of the water and put on an amazing show. They all are just so proficient with their instruments. I still think that the Rush concert I saw earlier this summer was better (no evidence required) but this one was also something to remember. Where were you seated at the show?

you have no idea how lucky you are. i would slay to be in your shoes that day. i've had this re-occuring day dream where i get mike's signature sticks signed by him, then i put them on a nice little stand inside a glass case. and either put it up on a shelf, or sell it on ebay. friggin sweet dude!

Dream Theater still puts on an amazing show! I was at the Detroit show, center, and about 10 feet from the stage, and it was amazing. Into Eternity was also great, but Redemption, I thought, either had an off night, or something. I wasn't a fan, which is a shame cuz Ray Alder is a great singer.

Anyway, I would love to meet these guys and get an autograph, but who knows what the future brings. Kudos, man!

hmmmm, i thought redemption was awesome, well, on their way to satrdom, but into eternity absolutely sucked IMO, dream theater gave me the best concert of my life, congrats on the autographs, i have a signed lithograph, but i wish i got their signatures in person, your a lucky man.....o i saw the show in dallas, if anyone else was their, lemme know

i was in the 300 sections at the back, i wanted to run up closer for DT but the guards there were nazis

i love into eternity, and redemption was ok, i loved when they broke into yyz randomly

did anyone else think DT was about to play Xanadu at the beginning of the encore?
