I finally got a few pics of my new kit to show you all. It's a Mapex Saturn in Green Apple Burst. Hopefully I can get some better pics soon and post a "review" of the kit when I do.
Big thanks to Shane and the guys at Just Drums for hooking me up! If you are looking into buying any Mapex equipment (or anything else they sell) you should definitely check them out.

Nice kit dude.. Although I cant see spending All that money on them.. And covering up the beautiful wood with a wrap or lacquer that you cannot see threw .. i guess to each his own. I actually almost bought a Saturn kit from a friend. I believe they have an inner ply of walnut or mahogany that makes them sound awesome.

Great looking set. I agree, if you need stuff mapex, get it from Shane. I ordered a few pairs of sticks from him a while back, and he sent me a free mapex catalog.

You have my future drum set. I love that kit....it is up at my local drum shop and I think it sounds amazing. The walnut gives it a wonderful sound. I will own a Saturn next. That finish is my favorite with out a doubt. You have a beautiful set there!!

Ahem - that is NOT a plastic wrap. It's a lacquer finish. The shell is 5.1 mm thick and it is made of 4 plies of maple & 2 plies of walnut.

Wow, don't know how I missed this post before!
Awesome kit BuddyLee87!! I LOVE that green apple burst finish!! Incredible!
How do you like the sound of those Saturns?? And what kind of cymbals are you using with it?

I'm a green sparkle guy too (Tama StarClassic Maple), I really dig that finish! Every Saturn I've heard has sounded spectacular - congrats on your new kit!
My only concern is that looks like a TON of tom-holder on that bass drum. You could anchor a small boat with it.

I agree. I love the color (I love yours too ECVail), but the tom holder is overkill. That's the only thing I don't like about Mapex. While I don't have a problem with toms on the bass, they've overdone it a bit. I'd take them off, remove the bass mount and fly them off stands.

Congrats on that beautiful kit man! Really loving the finish on that. It can't wait to see it set up with the cymbals :-)

The Tom Holder is completely removable. No shell penetration at all. And the bd shell is thicker to support extra weight. Doesn't effect the sound at all. I have a 6pc Studio Saturn kit in Mango burst and the toms are on the BD. No big deal to me. If you do want to remove them, it's easy enough. All you need is two multi-clamps and badda-bing, they're on the stands. ;-)

Gorgeous finish bro.. How do you like the stock emperors? I know they say emperors and the reso's are ambassadors but are they really? I just got my saturn yesterday and barely have had time to get it together. I hit it but I definetly need to tune it up. Problem is I am working 12+ hrs a day till monday...arrrrgggghhhhhh.
Love the Green though mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Yep - they put "real" Remo heads on the Saturns, not the chinese Remos.
